4. Louisiana -> Democrat Governor , Idaho -> Republican Governor
I don't think it has anything to do about sex. Republicans can show they're tough on these sleazy crooks as long as they have a sleazy crook in the governor seat to fill the empty seat with a new sleazy crook.

5. I agree -- what he did was also ILLEGAL ...
Where are the D.C. cops who should be pursuing this? I can understand NOLAPD not going after him (as they say, it's less likely we would have heard about Craig had he taken his bathroom break in Boise) but where are the D.C. guys?????

8. I suspect it's because nobody believes Craig! The excuses he
gave sounded worse than a first grader has after stealing a cookie!!!! Vitter, if you remember, appologized, said he was wrong, sorry, and would never do it again. Agree with it or not, it seems to make a big difference...at least to the Pubs...if someone admits to wrongdoing and shows remorse.

10. Vitter and Craig are both up for re-election in 2008
If you replace them with a new senator, that senator would have a head's up in the upcoming election. It's best that they go with the safe best which is replacing Craig. Louisana is too much of a risk at election time

11. Credit institutionalized homophobia ...
do something indiscreet in the straight world, and you'll get off pretty easy.

If you're GLBT, it's a mortal sin (but it's hard to be too upset when the person getting skewered is a self-loathing right-wing closet queen).
