I wish Chris Dodd had a chance.... |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 06:39 PM by Kerry2008
I'm listening to Senator Dodd speak after getting the endorsement of the IAFF. I remember when they endorsed John Kerry, and I think they've picked a good candidate in Chris Dodd. I'm for John Edwards, but I wish Chris Dodd were in the front tier. He's damn good, and sharp as a tack.
But of course with "superstars" like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and great candidates like Bill Richardson and John Edwards, it's hard for him to get ahead.
I'm not counting him out. The candidate the IAFF endorsed last time was John Kerry, and at this time he was "dead in the water."
I just wish he had more of a chance. Says a lot about current day media when they treat our elections like American Idol, and less like a contest dedicated to who will lead the greatest country in the world! That's no disrespect to Obama or Clinton, I enjoy both of them. But I wish this election had more depth. I don't care about the candidates hair cuts, tell me where they stand and where they want to take us as a nation!

2. That is a thrilling endorsement for Dodd |
|
And he earned it the old fashioned way. Good on him.

3. Is the media ignoring the endorsement? |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 07:33 PM by Kerry2008
I haven't seen anything about it on CNN or MSNBC. I surely hope they aren't ignoring such a big endorsement because it didn't go to the top three. Dodd earned and deserved this endorsement, and I'd hope the media would report it whether it was him at the bottom of the barrel or my candidate John Edwards in the front tier of candidates.

having said that DK is the rising star and I am sure he will ask Dodd to join him in his cabinet. which of course is only the right thing to do, but John Edwards give me a friggin break well I take that back, maybe John could do the Sunday Morning moral instruction in the capitol.......

He has the experience and the smarts to lead us out of this morass.
But for some reason (media indifference? - small state?) - I am now going with Edwards with my paltry bucks to buck the Hillary/Obama attention.
Edwards MAY be breaking through - and if he is as smart as I hope he is will form an alliance with either Dodd or Clark or Richardson to make a serious play for the nomination.

While he's not perfect, I do like him quite a bit more than the media-anointed "front runners."

9. I respect his recent efforts to defend the Constitution |
|
And record-wise I don't doubt he's one of the better candidates. But he has had plenty of time to lead from the Senate and has failed to make an impression. In the debates he does not come across as charismatic, though his policy prescriptions seem sane enough (though not more impressive than the frontrunners). I'd prefer if he gets out of the way so his staff and support can move on, and our debates can be a bit more substantive.

10. It is not over till it is over. I don't count anyone out or wager a bet on anyones chances right now |

Dodd is as good as the rest. He may even have more going for him if the press would do it's job and inform the American public.

11. That's the key, wisteria. |

The media isn't informing the people. This election is treated like front page news in the entertainment section.
