Fred Thompson on being President
from 1999: "The bottom line is that I am not willing to do what is necessary to get the job done. One of the advantages of being an old man is knowing a little more about yourself and I know that about myself." (from his Senate archives as reported by Scripps news service earlier in August)

Thanks, Fred. That quote is akin to being down in the bottom of the 9th, bases loaded and deciding to pitch underhanded to their best batter. Who ISN'T going to use that quote against him?!

2. His reputation for being lazy
It's like he confirms this widely-held belief about him - that's he's lazy.
Even in Hollywood he has that reputation. In TV & film work, Thompson shows up and does what he must to just get by.
