United Steelworkers Labor Union Endorses John Edwards!
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07242/813519-100.stm

Former Sen. John Edwards will start his Labor Day in Pittsburgh to accept a presidential endorsement from the United Steelworkers.

Mr. Edwards is expected to appear with United Steelworkers president Leo Gerard at a 9 a.m. rally at the Mellon Arena, the kickoff site for the city's annual Labor Day Parade. The former North Carolina senator will not stay for the parade, heading off immediately after the rally to another Labor Day event in Iowa.

1. Major, major endorsement for Edwards.
Got to give John credit. He has worked his ass off the last few months and it's beginning to pay off for him. Congratulations to him and his supporters. This is a big deal.

How does this compare to the endorsements that have recently gone to Dodd and Clinton?

3. Good news for the Edwards campaign. Quite a few folks in the Pittsburgh
area take notice of Labor doings.

This weekend's good as any, isn't it? for an endorsement like this.

Go, Johnny, go.

4. He may just have a real chance.
This is reminding me of Olympic figure skating, the media spends all its time on the "battle" between the two at the top and ignores #3. Then when it counts, the "ignored one" comes from behind and takes the prize.

6. This is just the beginning -
Edwards actually garnered a real story on KO tonight (with the editor from TIME stating that their poll was closer to reality) and Tweety earlier said something to the effect about keeping an eye on him - guess the media needs to brush up on everything Edwards!

K&R!!

9. that was a great truthful report
it is nice to see truth in the MSM. Thank God for KO. That Time reporter (name?) did a really great job of explaining the Edwards campaign.

15. She did and while they seemed
a bit perplexed over the HRC situation and with what Elizabeth said I kinda went WTF? Don't these guys get on the internets and read what's going on? It's an almost daily battle here and over at Dkos, there's always some diary with it. But, the media is finally getting it and that is s sure sign that JRE's message is getting through.

17. That was Anna Marie Cox aka Wonkette !
It was a great segment, will repeat midnight eastern.

I think Keith "had" to cover the HRC, but he and Cox seemed to genuinely like the Edwards'.

10. I'll be seeing him on Labor Day in Iowa!
What a happy day it will be. They are going to try to get him in Des Moines in time to participate in at least part of the parade. Then he will be participating in our annual Laborfest.

Oh happy day, indeed!

23. Great news, great week for Edwards
:bounce:

This endorsement, catching Obama in the Rass' national poll, leading in Time's Iowa poll, overtaking Obama in SC and closing within single digits of HRC (ARG), and reaching the margin of error with Obama for 2nd in NH (ARG).

24. Good news! But remember that Gephardt got the lion's share on union endorsments in 2004
Despite all the union endorsements, Gephardt dropped out after the first race in Iowa...

Here was his endorsements from the unions:
