1. Hope she does well. It's her turf, after all.

2. Nice presentation by Hillary...
The sliming fish story was the perfect "humanizer."

3. maybe she's just being herself
maybe it's not a "presentation."

I know. That's not Rovian enough.

7. I cringed a little because I don't think being hard working and responsible is
a conservative value but I know what she was trying to say.

I was raised by a Democratic Mom and Independent Dad and learned those same values.

I don't think she meant it the way I heard it which made me cringe a little (does that make sense?).

8. I caught that too and was put off at first.
I think she realized where she was headed in mid-sentence and recovered nicely.

9. Yeah, I know the way that part sounded wasn't her intent. She was just
saying that how she grew up helped make her who she is today, of course.

10. Yes.
Take note she has the same values as a Democrat. But I expect it was reassuring to many Americans who won't be able to cast their traditional Republican ballot because their stomachs revolt at the thought.

18. Of course it's a conservative value. It's also a progressive value.
What she was saying was that the Repubs she grew up in thought that being hard-working and responsible was ALL that it took to succeed. As she grew up, however, she realized that that wasn't enough -- that she had been blessed with OPPORTUNITIES that not everyone had had. That is the point of view of liberals and progressives -- that we can and should ensure equal opportunities.

6. Whatever.

Remove the chip on your shoulder and chill. I meant it as a compliment and nothing more...or less.

EDIT: Do you honestly think any presidential candidate would show up on Letterman and not care about how they *present* themselves to potential voters? Let's not be naive, eh...

As opposed to whatever lawyers do.

12. Willy and Kenny
Either brilliant or luck but this is great for Hill to be followed by these awesome dudes. Just think how many people waiting for Willy and Kenny happened to listen and maybe really hear Hillary for the first time.

16. I will watch for myself on west coast time.
But if she insinuates that working hard and being responsible is a conservative value then I will be done with her. I am from a working class union background who had to work three jobs and starve to get a college education. If she doesn't comprehend what her husband, John Edwards, Barrack Obama, and numerous others went through then she is no better than the privileged George W. Bush. That is being destined to lead by birth right and not by her own accomplishments. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and pass judgment after the show.
