Hillary is doing quite well with Letteman
She actually looks to be pretty cool as a person. You know, laughing, making jokes... cool stuff.

30. National Republicans need to look at what happened in New York in 2006.
Hillary won 67% of the vote and carried all but 4 counties. As Democratic as New York State is, remember that until recently NY had a Republican governor and NYC still has a Republican mayor (well, he ran as a Rep, anyway). Hillary does not win that kind of victory without a lot of Republican and Independent support. I think it is mostly her political savvy and her campaigning ability that sways voters to her cause - or at least makes them less likely to make a point of voting against her. I still think Obama is a better consensus candidate - but I think the Republicans make a huge mistake if they nominate some lackluster like Fred Thompson and think he is going to have an easy time against Hillary. He would get his butt kicked, imo. I don't care what polls say now about negative ratings on Hillary. Stand any of the Republican candidates up against Hillary in a debate and they are going to come off second best, imo.

9. I thought she did great too! I really do believe so many people had
made a decision about Hillary a long time ago, and slowly, they are beginning to see they might have been wrong.

It's not easy being on shows like that, and I was surprised he gave her as much time as he did. I don't watch Letterman or Leno very often, but from the show I have seen, most people only get one segment.

10. A couple of hits, no errors
I've seen the sense of humor before; plus she laughs like someone who really enjoys to laugh, which is very attractive.

I thought she could have made something out of that Craig question (an ever-so-slight reference to human fraility and the risks of being too judgmental would have been nice). She is cursed with that damned nasally voice, which is mostly negated by her wonderful facility with the language. I found her mostly endearing.

11. Hillary always suprises me in the charm department
she is so 180 degrees from the picture the rightwing has painted of her for years. The more she relaxes and is herself, the better she comes across.

13. Well, of course, he didn't ask her the hard questions,
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 12:46 AM by anotheryellowdog
and I understand that. In the context of the show, I must admit she came off well. Those hard questions don't just go away though. We all know what they are - investigations, impeachment (yes, I know she's a senator and not a House member), the War - edit: (Oops! - Letterman did ask her about the Iraq war. Iran is still an open question.), the Constitution, civil rights, the Geneva Conventions, torture, spying, Health Care, The Environment, the Patriot Act, PlameGate, KatrinaGate, habeas_corpus_Gate, Scooter_Gate, GonzoGate, GroundZeroGate and anything_I've_forgotten_Gate etc. etc. etc. I like Hillary, but I like Kucinich better. Still, she gets my vote if she wins the primary. Dennis gets my vote in the primary - and it doesn't matter to me if he's got a snowball's chance in hell or not. Hillary and the others could learn from him. All said, I must add this regarding Hillary's Top 10 if she's elected: # 6 was truly great - "My Vice President will never shoot anybody in the face." Go, Hillary!

The freepers who bash/smear Hillary on DU are nothing compared to many long-time DUers who do it.

24. Hillary is a warm person and an attractive woman
If she were elected President - I expect Hillary would be at least 10 times better than Bu$h2.

Still I think Al Gore or Wes Clark would make a great President for the next 8 years.

I am concerned that Hillary won't be able to lead the battle in the "red states".

I say we should fight the GOP in the red states so we don't have to fight them in the blue states.
