Prediction-Warner seeks another term
Why?

Well first of all the national Republican party is in as many pieces as the Va. GOP is. They just had a bloodbath of a primary and they are split in two. They had to hold a press conference last week to smooth over the mess that their members think that they made of the transportation bill (Gov. Kaine comes out of that the big winner).

It was Warner and then Senator Allen who bailed the state GOP out of bankruptcy in the Matricardi eavesdropping case and I think Warner will step up for his team one more time. His party can't sustain a candidate right now.

Warner is in "Senator for life" phase so if he runs again I don't see any big challenge (not worth it for Mark).

But I have been wrong before.

1. its a hard one to call. He toll Tim R. he would be 88 at the end of his term if
he runs. He was not sounding too upbeat when he said that.

3. Notice that he got that shot off before making this announcement
Not only does he "get it out there" he also soothes the anti-war crowd here in Va. pulling over enough votes to already declare victory should he run again.

He's been at this for a while.
