Looks like Giuliani's going to be the Repubs' nominee
Because Florida is voting early, Giuliani is almost certain to win. Thompson, who strikes many Latin Americans as xenophobic, will have little appeal in the Sunshine State, particularly in South Florida, where the GOP is dominated by Latin Americans.

I'm kind of looking forward to it simply because the FReepers detest Giuliani. I, of course, detest him as well; but it would be nice to see the failure of their cult-of-personality daddy-figure who, according to Chris Matthews, smells like old leather (Thompson).

1. I think Rudy plays best in CA and NY as well--unless something comes along
to derail him, he will have the big states locked up--however, he's losing to Mittens in the early states--it just depends on how much 'mo Mittens/Fred may get out of NH, IA and SC.

4. In any case,
Giuliani's leading in many SC polls. I don't think he'll be as uncompetitive in the South as Freepers hope.

19. And that would be worth....?
BTW, you do know that Hillary is not running in the GOP primary? So it really would be nothing about her?

13. Are you saying that they'll vote for Mittens or Fred instead of a native son?
I'm just talking primary here.

As far as I know, he's overwhelmingly supported here among Republicans.

6. So what? If Rudy is counting on the
right wing religious vote to booster him into the presidency then he is sadly mistaken....Many of the christian right will have to face themselves in the mirror about voting for a person they would vote against that was pro choice, pro gun control and for gay rights. Oh I know there will be many in here that will say they will hold their nose and vote for Rudy and then try to ask for forgiveness in their prays....Since G-d knows the heart of man, then a christain(right wing) would know they will be lying to
G-d....and many many a majority will stay home and not vote for Rudy, and those I respect because knowing they would be a hypocrite many will not go that way....Just my musings for a Friday

I do thank you
Ben David

7. How much of an impact is the Hispanic vote going to have for the GOP
when none of them will participate in Univision's debate, whereas the Democrats will?

14. I was referring to the primary
And if no GOPer participates in that debate, then Giuliani doesn't lose his competitiveness relative to his fellow Republicans.

18. California and New York are not going to Rudy.
New Jersey may be competitive though.

Thompson can still win the nomination, only to become the Bob Dole of 2008.
He's unimpressive and lobbied on behalf of the pro-choice lobby. The fundinutzis aren't going to like that.

I do hear that Tweety Matthews is impressed with Thompson's "musky" scent! :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

22. Fat chance of that happening, in my book
Huckabee's a fair trader, and he's so far to the right on social issues that it's overkill as far as balancing the ticket is concerned.

21. The Pukes' entire slate of wanna-bes is a pack of unpalatable yahoos.
Even for Republicans, this is a real sorry lot.

I'm not seeing a dominant winner in the bunch. Agree with your points on Giuliania and Florida as things stand now. But Mulitple Choice Mitt leads in both Iowa and New Hampshire, and headline wins there could whittle Rudy's victory party down considerably.

Tancredo's running at around 9% in Iowa. If he had some seroius competition, no one would have even heard of Tom Tancredo.

Hey, DNC, are you listening?????

I'm fine with Ghouliani being their nominee. IF (hopefully when) the truth about him is know, he'll be easy to beat. But the truth, his lies, his greediness and his deceit must be made known.

26. It's not merely difficult to warm up to Giuliani, IMO. It's impossible.
When he comes on the news, I see a street thug. When he opens his mouth, I hear a street thug. When I look at his record as mayor of New York, I get mighty homesick for David Dinkins and John Lindsay.

Giuliani, for me, is one of the repulsive public figures of the last 40-50 years, if not longer.
