More Douchebaggery from James Carville
He's on CNN right now arguing that Senator Wide-Stance (R) shouldn't have to resign because he pled guilty to a misdemeanor.

Oy vey.

13. I guess I just think Craig is toxic.
I worry somehow it will get on the Democrats through the crazy magic of the MSM.

3. The Democrats don't want him to go
I agree with that.

He'd be much easier to beat if he stays in office.

But he won't. He'll go.

16. it just seems like the right thing to do
I have every confidence the Democrats will bring back the players that have, um, retired from the GOP in
television ads. It will be beautiful. (I wonder if they have the chutzpah to do that; I sure hope so.)

4. I agree with the other posters on this thread. His remaining in office only tends to help
the Democrats, specifically, the primary winner running against him when his term expires.

5. I can't think of any reasonable rationale to keep him in office.
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 05:22 PM by AtomicKitten
The guy is a skank and a hypocrite. He committed a crime and pled guilty. Bah-bye.

It is up to the GOP to pressure him out, they are coming out doing so now, and I would encourage all to get a good look at the GOP doing the right thing FOR ONCE but only because there is an election around the corner.

Funny stuff.

On edit: I think the Democrats should just shut up on the subject and give the GOP enough rope to hang themselves. Carville's argument seems "lacking" in some areas that I'm just not comfortable with. Better to say nothing than something questionable.

8. There is no reasonable rationale to keep him in office from the Republican
viewpoint. However, what candidate would not love to go up against him? If he stays in office and if he wins the primary, he would be a cooked goose.

10. I suppose I enjoy the show.
I just think the best policy is to let the GOP implode, but do it in any organic way and don't interefere. Hold their coats for them and watch the show.

17. We should start an "Edie Bauer Riot" and run to GOP HQ to demand they keep Craig.
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 05:45 PM by IanDB1
Besides.

The Daily Show is much better since he left.

Oh.

Wait...

Different "Craig"?

Really?

You sure?

"No, I was not the one in the men's room. But you wanna see me dance? Got $20? Slip $20 under the door... And then catch Craig!"

9. His argument makes me uncomfortable.
It is bereft of accountability in a moral sense.

He fails to even mention the magnitude of Widestance's history of unsavory behavior. In fact, that is the very reason why he should no longer stink up the Senate.

Even the most expensive legal minds can't put lipstick on that pig.

26. the way I felt when I heard his argument --
was best expressed by the word "douchebaggery"

It was one of those cheesy, barely legal, legal arguments that was bereft of integrity, one that I didn't want any part of.

I hope he sticks it out because it's a certain victory for the Dems in Idaho if he does.

11. I agree but I'd rather the Dems STFU on this.
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 06:10 PM by AtomicKitten
The GOP is imploding and sometimes the Dems stir sh*t up in a weird direction and it backfires.

I just want the Dems to get maximum mileage out of this without selling their souls.

Craig is toxic. Democrats should take care not to get any on them.

18. What ever happened to just doing the right thing?
It's weird when raw political strategy and doing the right thing collide.

That's precisely where I part company with that kind of partisanship.

23. I don't know what to think about Carville,
I didn't see it, but he's a strange guy. Sometimes he makes me laugh, sometimes he makes me cringe, but whatever lame-ass thing he does, he probably sees it as some brilliant strategy.

He should just STFU about this and let the RWers wallow in it alone IMO.

If Craig should resign, then over two thirds of the Senate should join him.
