For those who are not supporting Obama because he's not "experienced enough", |
|
could you please give concrete examples of Obama's alleged "inexperience" and how your candidate of choice differs from Obama in that regard?
You know, just to make sure...

1. very true. But, since the media ignores Obama's 8 years in the state senate maybe |
|
for the sake of fairness they should also discount Hillary's 8 years of waving.

2. LOL! I just want to see how real is this "he's not ready yet" thing |
|
some people are saying as justification for not supporting Obama.

3. I see no celebrity funerals in his curriculum vitae. |
|
That's the kind of inexperience that can't be ignored.

I think it would take to much work for a number of them, and likely fruitless work aswell trying to find something that could 'stick' :)

8. I also like his very good judgement. Not too much can be said of those without. |
|
I mean if you stack his 3 years in the US senate against say, edwards or hillary's 6 years record, I'd say Obama has them beat.

this business of asking leading questions designed to negate anybody elses opinions are getting tiresome. if you support obama, fine. but i am not going to change my mind on edwards no matter what. my mind is made up.

11. I don't want you to change your mind. I'm saying that if you think Obama is not ready |
|
you can come here and give some examples of that inexperience and how your candidate doesn't have that problem.

18. doesn't matter if he's ready, he's in the race |
|
and that requires no justification. mine is a personal preference for edwards that goes back many many years.

12. It's not that he isn't experienced enough... |
|
It's that there are others in the field, in fact all others in the field (except Kucinich), have more successful experience than he does...
Different thing

deferential toward their grandparents, their friends' grandparents, and so on.
The United States does not appear to me to honor old people. We tend toward a media-genic, youth-oriented culture. We praise John F. Kennedy's "vigor" and go apeshit over young skinny fashion models.
I would cite Dale Bumpers' sage remarks to the U.S. Senate regarding the impeachment of President Clinton and Barack Obama's equally sage address to the Boston convention in 2004, noting that both addresses were magnificently composed. Age or "experience" was not really a determinant in the psychopolitical efficacy of those speeches or in the impact they had on their audiences.
We have also the example of Lincoln, a 1-term Congressman, who is felt by most historians as having done just fine in office in the face of what must have been overwhelming pressures both personal and national.
Farther back is Phillip II's son, then age 19 or 20, who became hegemon of Greece. Demosthenes stood to denounce him as an arrogant punk, but sang a different tune very shortly when Alexander's army -- very likely the best trained in the world ever -- moved south.
Richard Lugar has been in the Senate forever, and where has his experience gotten him except to establish him as a mute bystander in Bush's travesty of government?

I think Senator Obama's experience as a citizen is exemplary and were he to head our ticket, the guy in front of you in line to vote for him would be me.
