10. So let me get this straight
Edited on Sat Sep-01-07 02:15 AM by Lirwin2
You support Kucinich, whos 2008 platform is:

Creating a single-payer system of universal health care that provides full coverage for all Americans by passage of the United States National Health Insurance Act.
The immediate, phased withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq; replacing them with an international security force.
Guaranteed quality education for all; including free pre-kindergarten and college for all who want it.
Immediate withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Repealing the USA PATRIOT Act.
Fostering a world of international cooperation.
Abolishing the death penalty.
Environmental renewal and clean energy.
Preventing the privatization of social security.
Providing full social security benefits at age 65.
Creating a cabinet-level "Department of Peace"
Ratifying the ABM Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol.
Introducing reforms to bring about instant-runoff voting.
Protecting a woman's right to choose while decreasing the number of abortions performed in the U.S.
Ending the war on drugs.
Legalizing same-sex marriage.
Creating a balance between workers and corporations.
Ending the H1B and L1 Visa Programs
Restoring rural communities and family farms.
Strengthening gun control.

And you support Ron Paul, who's platform is:
supports free trade
supports the military "don't ask, don't tell" policy
supports gun ownership,
supports prayer in school
opposes Abortion, gay rights, income tax and foreign aid.

Do you have multiple personality disorder?

16. Is that why you posted on abortion on the other thread--a topic, you may notice
that Kucinich and Paul are diametrically opposed on? You may argue that your point was only about socialized abortion, but given Kucinich's health care plan, they are diamtericaly opposed on that issue, as well.

27. Even though
paying for such an abortion would--in strictly financial terms--be far less expensive than providing neonatal care, post natal care, and possibly several years of welfare, medical assistance, education, and, given that the child was unwanted in the first place and therefore is likely to have less than capable parents, correctional expenses?

Libertarian math sucks. A Libertarian government would cost each individual in America far more than even the most extreme socialist government, which few people even here advocate. Certainly Paul's America would cost more than Kucinich's. Hell, given the loss of government programs to establish and encourage business, invest in private sector research and development, not to mention overseas promotion to create new markets for American products (It's been a while, but back before the Republicans we used to export something other than jobs), and to provide a national defense, a domestic defense, transportation, and many other expenses that would prohibit national trade and reduce us to a feudalistic, localized economic system, Paul's government might make us wish we for Cuba's prosperity.

43. Really good pre- and post-natal care by a qualified doctor
can decrease abortions. Raising a woman's self-esteem and educating young women about how to avoid getting pregnant help too. Women should have the choice of abortion. Believe it or not, it can be necessary for medical reasons. Besides, it would be much more difficult than anyone can imagine to police abortion.

So, the emphasis should be on giving women real choices including help with child care so that raising small children while going to school or working is not an impossible burden. In the end, however, women have to have the right to choose. After all,you can hardly blame women who have abortions, when the fact is that, for longer than any of us can remember, more than a few men have chosen to walk away from their children and leave them with no support. Abortions mostly happen when a woman has some physical reason for not completing her pregnancy, is far too young (or too old) or when the father refuses to take responsibility for his child. Maybe we should make the dads pay for abortions. What with DNA evidence to establish paternity, why not?

26. Interesting reply, but surely you see the ire nut-jobs like other posters there bring
Libertarianism simply can't exist in a large society; we'd spend every waking hour negotiating and testing things to make sure they won't poison us.

Paul believes that the First Amendment has been carried too far and he'd be perfectly happy having the very limited government shove more christianity down our throats even if they hardly did anything else.

Are you against the FDA? How about the IRS? The FCC? Social Security? All of these pesky things protect us and allow us many more hours each day to ply our trades and live our lives; stability is a great thing, not some kooky conspiracy of communism.

I understand your seriousness about our deplorable warmongering, but is that one issue going to allow you to support completely unsustainable primitiveness? By one of the most simple definitions, civilization IS regulation. Laws and enforcement help us have the freedom to pursue our happiness.

Whether one likes it or not, one is judged by the company one keeps. Some of the posters on just the little bit I just read on Ron Paul's site are extremely selfish, misogynistic megabigots and petty tin-horn tyrants with obviously very little exposure to the rest of the world except for the very narrow and very immediate surroundings. Like it or not, you're tarred by affiliation with such dregs.

War sucks. This war particularly sucks. That's still no reason to ignore reality and dismiss all the rest of human concerns and endeavors.

Personally, I think we're a tad quick in banning some people, but some come simply to disrupt and that's just not conducive to the type of interaction desired by the overwhelming majority of the posters here.

Paul's an idiot, regardless of his IQ or his medical license. He's as wrong and close-minded with his worldview as Ayn Rand was, and it's foolish to give it a foothold in reality. That he got one thing very correct means nothing.

48. Let me see if I understand your position, please...
Ron Paul has one, exactly one , position in common with DK. That one position, one lucky, unlucky or responsible vote, is the reason to support Paul. Yet for that same vote you condemn the entire rest of the democratic field.

I am sorry, but I just don't believe you. If this really is how you feel, rather than just being a Ron Paul tr*ll operative, then your ability to hold two competing ideas as equally valid is surprising. It also explains why it seems that you are having difficulty making yourself understood, here. People are understandably suspicious of that striking ability--it makes the holder appear to be either lying or nuttier than the proverbial fruit cake. It is the same sort of mental compartmentalization that makes Tom DeLay and quite a number of other pukes objects of disgust and ridicule.

I am pretty sure you don't belong in a fruit cake. You seem to be pretty intelligent so surely you can understand why we don't fall on your neck and treat your like a long lost brother, right?

Paul wants to essentially close much of government down. Kucinich wants to expand the role of government.

How can you support both platforms?

Doesn't that cause some level cognitive dissonance? (No need to answer.)

32. You'll wind up in jail if you try.
Minnesota might have an open primary, but open primaries do not allow you to vote in both party primaries. To do so would be vote fraud. Save yourself some trouble, hang out here, and vote for a real candidate. Edwards, Obama, Clinton, Kucinich, hell, even Dodd or Richardson. You don't understand politics any more than you understand primary voting. Hang out here, learn from us communistic mentally deficient folk. You'll learn more.

From the SOS page on MN's webbie:

Voters should be aware of some differences between the primary and the general election. Most notably, primary voters must select among a single political party’s candidates through the entire primary ballot—“crossover” voting between parties is not allowed.

56. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Why would someone who has evidently never voted in an open primary jump into an aggressive position in such a discussion?

Here in Illinois, I walk into the polling place, sign my name, they ask me my name and look me up in the precinct registry. They ask me do I want a dem or a rep ballot and that's what I get. I always choose the democratic ballot because I'm not particularly interested in dicking around with their numbers, just who it is that I have studied up on. The details may vary but it only takes one time and you will remember the procedure at least 'til the next primary.

Minnesota election law permits you to vote for the candidates of only one political party in a state partisan primary election."

If there are only two major political parties to be listed on the ballot, one party must occupy the left-hand column, the other party must occupy the right-hand column, and the center column must contain the following statement:

"Do not vote for candidates of more than one party."

They are brainwashing people into believing socialist/communist dogma. I can't believe these people listen to this crap. They are anti-father, heterosexual males are inferior to gay males, and all females. All Mainstream T.V. shows portray fathers as stupid fools that have to be controlled by their wives. Women are smart and men are stupid and need to be confined from their natural instincts. Individualism is bad for the world and America is the problem. People need to become collective and be team players. They think the public school system is doing just dandy, and they just want a little more homosexual theory taught, and then every will be just peachy. Encourage the girls to be lesbians because Hollywood and MTV says it's cool. The boys will encourage them and love it, which is a big plus in their quest to be popular alpha females. The boys have been taught to bang as many chicks as possible because you'll be considered cool. In fact , don't ever have kids, so you have more time for sexual conquest which will make you very happy for the years to come. A young mother is working at a big corporate office today, but lately she has been feeling in the dumps. She watches T.V. everyday, and finally finds the answer to her altered feelings! It's a depression, a real medical disease that can be controlled with a special pill. Just tell your doctor about some of the symptoms that we stated on the commercial tonight to your physician and asked for Prozac. We won't tell you why you’re really screwed up in the head. Could It be the subconscious thoughts circling in your mind about the guilt of abandoning your child into a regulated baby sitting system, could that be the real cause? For thousands of years females raised their kids from pregnancy to young adult ages. It was just 3 decades ago that all changed for good. Thanks to the CIA as they funded feminist movement. they brainwashed the public into believing that women were victims of male power. Stop little girls from playing with dolls, and give her a baseball glove. That your occupational status is all that counts, and forget about your children, the public school system will teach them everything they need to know. You be a good little tax payer, so we can improve the public school system on every election cycle. Forget about your parents! Just commit them to retirement and nursing homes. They aren't important to the family 's social system. The Japanese don't know anything. When your lying in your death bed, you won't be thinking about your family, friends and your experiences with them. Nope, you will be thinking about your boat, that white Jaguar, Your 10,000 sqft home, that fat gold chain, your one night stands, and all the money you made. Yep, just listen to the pied piper who leads the rats down to streets as they dance like marionettes to the symphony of destruction. Thanks Megadeth!!"

the CIA FUNDED FEMINIST MOVEMENTS?
I wonder if this guy hangs out in bathrooms with US GOP senators. . . .

On a college project, we studied the particular writings of people diagnosed with various mental illnesses. Certain disease processes had characteristic writing similarities. For example, schizophrenic writings have a unique, easily detectable style that almost all sufferers show.

Applying what I learned so many years ago to this, I have come to the unassailable conclusion that the author is bat shit, dingbat crazy.

Another gem from that site. Here's what Nathan Pannbacker the feminist says about job pay disparity:

"I am a feminist. I am one of the original cut though, a philosophical believer in the ideal of gender equality. At the same time I believe that men are discriminated against in today's society more than women.
I believe that there's no reason why men should take all the disgusting, dirty, and extremely difficult jobs. Even jobs like firemen should be open to women as well as men assuming that people of both genders can perform to the same physical standards. I believe that many of these jobs do not pay nearly their market rate due to community pressure for men to accept them immediately when they open.
Nor do I believe that pay and occupational disparities reflect prejudice against women. Men are pressured into taking unpleasant, risky, and discomforting jobs at all levels due to misandrynous prejudice. That these things pay better at all is the extent at which men resist this pressure and try to hold out on taking the jobs in search of better offers."

60. That caught my eye, too.
I have seen long standing alcoholics, in the middle of a bender, go on a rant and dig up ridiculous supporting non info from everything from the neighbor's cat to the lack of automatic dog polishers on a cruise ship. That post was remarkable for the poster's ability to string totally unconnected crap together and still be sober enough to type. Whew!

49. Ron Paul doesn't have a snowball's chance
He attracts only about 1% support from voters in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Even Republicans aren't dumb enough to fall for his libertarian drivel. He is viewed favorably by just 20% of likely voters nationwide.

But I hope he gets the Republican nomination. The Democratic nominee is going to win in the general election. But if Paul is their Republican opponent, that would gurantee a Democratic landslide.

57. No
You came specifically to promote a certain point of view, an anti-democratic one. You used the same username because you drank the koolaid being offered elsewhere, that we here at DU are, what was that again? Oh yes, "communist extremists with mental disabilities".

You cam here with the stated purpose of stealing votes from Democrats. You expect us to let you stay? Are you insane? Do you think we are? Oh, and May of this year is not exactly a lifetime ago. Are you trying to claim this is the indiscretions of youth? Sorry, you aint Bush and I'm not an evangelical idiot.

I really hope you need someone's help someday. And I hope they tell you to take a flying leap, just like you would do. And then I hope they help you anyway, just to show you what an ass you've been all these years.

61. You have, indeed, been tolerably polite and fairly reasonable.
"We" don't ban posters. If a person's post is particularly egregious, someone can alert the mods to take a look at it. That's what the little "alert" button is for. That takes you to a message page where you describe what the problem is and send it to the mods. They then review it and make a decision.

The point of this site is not to ban people from it; there are reasonable rules for any large communal (oh no there's that pesky "c" word, again) undertaking and this site, like business and government, is no exception. However, it takes some pretty nasty stuff or rules violations plus multiple mods voting on it to ban somebody.

If you are concerned about whether or not you have offended or will offend, I would highly recommend that you read up on the DU rules. They aren't that complicated and are mostly just common sense and politeness.

Toilet Paper posts and he is one ignorant jerk.

He may support the repuke that is the least assholey, but TP just

reinforces why I loathe repukes. ick..ick...ick

Edit to add: TP said some repulsive things, but what stands out is his "stealing votes" remark

With repukes, it's not about making an argument for and convincing. No, it's

all about stealing. That is the mindset they use to conduct their entire life.

remember 2-3 months ago when for a couple of weeks DU had at least TEN low-post, very vocal Paul supporters who found their way into every thread?? (all they could say was Paul was against the invasion and completely forget about his other positions)...

I'm glad the mods saw it as an organized troll invasion and cleared them out...
