With Craig resigning, NOW is the time to go after Vitter re: hypocrisy
This is a slam dunk: Vitter confessed to illegal activities unbecoming of a Senator. If Craig resigns, then Vitter should also resign.

1. That will be big hill to climb as the media really has NOT made hypocrisy an issue.

4. Perfect fodder for the General Election...
The Bush White House is unraveling faster than a speeding bullet.

2. And be replaced by someone named by a Dem Governor!
Republicans don't want that to happen, (do we wonder why?).

They are such hypocrites when it comes to moral standards. It's OK for Vitter to stay, but not for Craig.

3. .McConnell and McHenry, the next to go..
Edited on Sat Sep-01-07 08:30 AM by Tellurian
Two more perverts...If the article is still up, I'll post it here.

"Lil' Patrick McHenry isn't a character in Comedy Central's brilliant Lil' Bush, which features Lil' Cheney, Lil' Rummy, Lil' Condi, Lil' Tony Blair, Lil' Jeb, Lil' Hillary, Lil' Mikey Moore, Lil' Obama... but not Lil' Lil' Patrick McHenry. He's too... lil'! But he may be about to get a lot bigger, at least in terms of the traditional media that has made Larry Craig a household name-- and soon. DWT readers already know that the North Carolina arch-conservative (other than 3 nut-case freshmen, McHenry's got the most reactionary voting record in Congress) is another hypocritical closet queen waiting nervously for his moment on the national stage.

"And yesterday BlueNC http://bluenc.com/florida-murder/suicides-nc-ties gave Rep. McHenry's closet door a nice, loud jolt. In a scandal that will prove to be far bigger than South Park's outing of Tom Cruise (covered in great depth and detail by Wikipedia), it looks like there is a connection between McHenry and a murderous Republican homosexual love triangle/escort service."

"The murdered gay Republicans include Ralph Reed's purported ex-lover, Ralph Gonzalez (former head of the rabidly homophobic Georgia Republican Party), David Abrami and McHenry guy-pal Robert Drake, the shooter. All three were found last week in a murder-suicide in an Orlando apartment. According to right-wing website, the North Carolina Conservative "All three men were active in Republican politics." They mention that Drake is "an associate" of McHenry's but don't define that. He is alleged to be an associate of quite a few younger men, some of whom are gay and some of whom are just gay-for-pay. "

(Note: The website in this GOP report are graphic pornographic gay prostitute sites and if you don't want to see that kind of stuff DO NOT copy and paste the links. They are purposely not in the form of links.)

A little more of the sordid history helping to explain why this scandal has been covered up and away from broad news coverage:

"But back to the murder. I've seen posts and comments and allegations that Drake had client lists of the escort service that he was using to threaten Gonzalez with, that he was desperate and angry. Cuadro faces the death penalty if convicted and we all know a good lawyer is expensive."

"I swear it's all so weird that everyone is onto the Larry Craig case. If you don't believe in coincidences it would be easy to wonder if the Craig story didn't leak because someone threatened by this situation has friends who would rather dump Larry off the ship. (This reminds me of the Abramoff "investigation" that just went after the school funding and not a much larger case of Indian fraud based in the Department of the Interior with Stephen Griles. I wrote about Taylor's involvement in that. No one's been questioned on the bigger case that I imagine involved many many more legislators.)"

"Back to this situation, after the names of the dead were posted, my inbox was full of emails saying "This is the case. This is what's going to bring McHenry down." Now, I don't know about that. I'm still waiting on some evidence."

6. The difference between Craig and Vitter is the media
Someone in the media decided to make Craig a target and it ignited the firestorm that is bringing him down.
Get someone in the media to make Vitter a target and exposing his hypocrisy and hope it takes off from there.
But that all depends on how much the rest of the media is willing to protect the lies.

14. The difference is political. If Craig had stayed and run for re-election in 08, he might have lost
to a Dem.

Vitter isn't up for election in 08, and if he resigned the Dem Gov (Blanco) would have named his replacement.

They threw Craig under the bus for purely pragmatic reasons.

However, people should push and push hard on the Vitter angle because the the only difference between Vitter and Craig is that Vitter isn't up for election in 08 and a Dem would name his replacement.

Both admitted to commiting sex crimes, and both should be held to the same standards as defined by the rules of the Senate.

isn't fooling me with his BS.

And my Senior Senator is a DINO, who routingly crosses the aisle,
