Tancredo Calls For An End To Post-Katrina Aid
9/1/2007 9:41:57 AM Calling post-Katrina hurricane recovery efforts “a perfect storm of corruption and incompetence at all levels,” long shot Republican presidential contender Rep. Tom Tancredo called on the federal government Friday to stop sending aid to the Gulf Coast ...

Responding, two of the state's leading Democrats, Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, issued a joint statement.

"Perhaps Rep. Tancredo should read the entire report to which he refers. The GAO report cites the federal government as the source of waste, not those at the state and local level who continue working around the clock to rebuild their communities,” Blanco said. "To characterize our ongoing recovery challenges as 'runaway government spending' is an insult to Americans in need.” ...

Senator Landrieu, plainspoken in her response, said Tancredo's suggestion to cut recovery aide to the Gulf Coast “is as ignorant as it is shortsighted.” ...

6. Okay, fine
Now he needs to call for an investigation as to what happened to all the money that went to Katrina aid.
