MTP Tomorrow: Carville, Matalin, Shrum, and Murphy
Tomorrow's guests on meet the press are two "Democrats" -- James Carville and Bob Shrum. The two Republicans are Mike Murphy and Mary Matalin.

Why do the Sunday morning shows continue to trot out the same old crowd. I swear, sometimes MTP is interesting to watch.

It's kind of funny, but out of the 4 I might like Murphy the best. Sure he's a diehard Republican, but he seems like a decent guy. "Free Scooter" Carville and Matalin make me want to puke. Shrum is actually not all that bad, I didn't like what he had to say about Edwards in his book. I have to assume that like Carville, Shrum is probably a Clinton supporter.

2. Thanks for the warning!
I think I'll take a nice long walk and let all of these idiots talk amongst themselves!

They REALLY don't think this is good TV for a weekend Sunday morning, do they? I would rather watch cartoons with my grand nephew!

3. I'd watch it if those four guests could be switched and instead we'd get
Joan Didion, Maya Angelou, Frank Rich, and Seymour Hersh.

5. That's the silliest post I have seen on the board
Do you know how to work a 'remote control'?

Democrats are on about as much as Rethuglicants!

If James Carville is a Republican, I'll eat my shoes!

8. Probably a clarification is due
There are a lot of Democrats on the air. Just very few progressive/liberals.

15. Carville and Shrum both have recent books bashing Dems
Edited on Sat Sep-01-07 11:47 PM by TOJ
that's why they're on the air. If you think Dems are on as much as Repukes, you need to stop believing what Rush tells you.

Edit: And yes, I do know how to work a remote. That's why I haven't watched MTP or any other GOP-run TV "News" program in 10 years.

6. I sort of resent that carville and shrum are put forth
as "Democrats". They are nothing but supporters of the status quo within the beltway.

There is nothin that makes me want to hurl as much as the carville/matalin freak show tha fat timmeh puts on from time to time. It's the most fuckin staged crap you can imagine.

Although it seems to me that the visits of these two pieces of shit to MTP have decreased in frequency.

17. At first it was a novelty
Russert would put the two on for some friendly sparring.

However, I really have begun to doubt Carville. He might be a good political strategist, but he seems to get caught up in his own celebrity.

I'm sort of biased, since he's clearly against the Dean wing of the party and would prefer Harold Ford Jr. run the ship. Calling Dean "Rumsfeldian" in incompetence was the last straw. His consultation with Mary Matalin on election night is dubious.

I think it's funny to see how many Democratic pundits owe their career to the very talented Bill Clinton. I'd like to see how Carville could have led Dukakis or Mondale to victory.

9. Why do people watch this shit? That's all I want to know.
Edited on Sat Sep-01-07 10:14 PM by Sarah Ibarruri
It's almost an insult to our intelligence. People should refuse to watch it and let the show know they're not going to watch.

12. And they wonder why people don't watch and consider them irrelevant?
I usually watch MTP but I certainly wouldn't bother with this line-up.

Here's another message:

I don't give a flying f!@ about what Cokie Roberts and James Will think either.

When is the MSM going to realize that most people don't care what the establishment prunes care to disseminate? Their gig is up.

14. Murphy is a dirt bag!
Mike Murphy is ... who the hell is he anyway? He's a political consultant who used to advise John McCain. In 2000, here's what he did when McCain was battling George Bush in the primaries:
... Murphy "had pressed for a massive wave of phone calls to Michigan voters that linked George W. Bush to the anti-Catholic bigotry of Bob Jones University." It then explained how Murphy calculated his options when asked by an Associated Press reporter whether the McCain campaign had made the calls. "He could deny the calls -- despite the fact that he had written the script himself," wrote Kurtz. "He could confirm the calls and watch the breathless wire story dominate the news in the primary's final hours. Or he could stall for time. Murphy told Fournier he needed to check out the facts, which delayed the damaging story until the polls were nearly closed ...

20. DING DING DING! IndianaGreen, you're our grand prize winner!
Bob Shrum all alone against 3 Republicans!

Yep, after Carville's reaction to the '06 Dem victory, I don't trust him any farther than I can throw--well, an elephant! And there's something about him and his wife arguing different sides on the same show that strikes me as a little less than kosher.
