DEJA VU FROM '04 (LUCAS CO DEM HQOH ) AND '05 (OH STATE DEM HQ)?

" County Democratic Headquarters Burglarized, Data Stolen

WCPO

Last Update: 9/01 11:53 pm

Reported by: Lance Barry

Web produced by: Laura Hornsby
. . . .

Early Friday morning, a burglar pushed a window air conditioning unit out to gain access to the headquarters on Webbland Drive , taking two of Brian Garry's computers. One computer contained his campaign strategy and finances, while the other was used for technical applications.

. . . .

What is interesting about the burglary is that other items inside the office weren't touched.

"There is a VCR, a DVD player, a TV, a lot of things that would be more likely to be taken," he said.

Also not taken were computers and files of other higher-ranking county Democrats.

-snip
But beyond the dollar amount, the computer files are what he says will significantly set him back from a time perspective. They include donor lists, volunteer lists, and other important documents.

Garry also tells us of all the files, the fact that his campaign strategy is among them is what is most troubling."

1. PREVIOUS BREAKINS IN OHIO DEM HQ:
There were apparently politically motivated burglaries at Ohio Democratic Headquarters in 2005 http://forum.newshounds.us/viewtopic.php?t=24&sid=218fb71cc53878b236f8556733988240, http://www.vindy.com/premium/world/293180696329620.php , when Denny White was the State Democratic Party Chairman, and a window was left open;

and in 2004 at Lucas Democratic Party headquarters http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2004410130378.

2. Ya' ever notice....
How it's always the DEM'S offices that get broken into?

Gee.. I wonder why THAT is?

Must be a coincidence I guess.

3. I'll just make the comment that I am HAPPY that Denny White, the former chair
of the OH Dem Party is no longer Chair. This is a strange coincidence but he is the neighbor of Wally O'Dell-the former Diebold CEO who promised to deliver Ohio to bu$h in '04. It's a weird world.

5. Nah We just hide our tracks so they don't know we took their data.
We even have the capability to reassemble shredded documents, intercept faxes and emails.

6. That's deep red country down there in SW Ohio. I think Montgomery
Country (Dayton, etc.) went for Kerry-Edwards in 2004, but Warren, Butler, and Hamilton counties all for Bush.

Which is not to say that the election was even-keel and fiar-handed, only that the conservative tilt of those districts is long-standing. The Cincinnati ENQUIRER is a very conservative newspaper and WLW radio pipes out rightwing garbage most of the day and night.

Steve Chabot. John Boehner. Mean Jean Schmidt. Buz Lukens. And so forth. A long miserable list of smarmy Republicans from that neck of the woods.

It would be realy refreshing if Dr. Wulsin could at least take out Mean Jean in 08.

7. '04 Results for Hamilton County but w a footnote:
* 222,616
KERRY 199,679
BADNARIK 1,615
PETROUKA 621

FOOTNOTE:

"The Hamilton County (Cincinnati) Board of Elections was unable to transfer the unvoted precinct ballots and soiled precinct ballots," wrote John Williams, Hamilton County Director of Elections on May 16, 2007. "To the best if my knowledge, the above ballots were inadvertently shredded between January 19th and 26th of '06 in an effort to make room for the new Hart voting system."

-snip

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/073107C.shtml

In Southwest Ohio, some unused ballots were shredded. Others were lost during a remodeling. Pages that verify punch-card ballot counts and the rotation of candidates' names ended up in Mount Rumpke landfill, according to letters from four elections boards.

The loss of the ballots is important because, since the 2004 election, critics - on blogs, in Congress and in lawsuits - have questioned whether the election was conducted fairly. While many of those questions eased after several investigations and the Democratic election sweep in 2006 in Ohio, elections officials still worry about anything that leaves the perception that elections aren't legitimate.

8. Thank you for this info. It really does appear that there are some
shifty doings by the Republican-controlled apparatus 'round those parts.

A real good housse cleaning could go a long way.
