Go Craig go! The silver lining in him fighting back
First, the more Sen. Craig is in the news, the more questions as to why Vittner got to skate out of his ordeal comes to light. Vittner has managed to brush his ordeal off and fade into the background with out much damage to himself. If Craig fights back and then is forced to leave The Senate because he plead guilty to a crime, then the questions will arise why hasn't Vittner who has publicly admitted to doing similar criminal activities, not been forced to resign as well? (Rhetorical)

The more Craig brings on the heat, the greater the chance Vittner gets taken down with him. Its a 2 for 1 deal. Remember, although Craig's replacement would be another GOP, Vittner comes from a state where there is a Dem Governor, making his replacement being....say it with me...ANOTHER DEM SENATE SEAT.

...then we can shove Lieberman to the curb as we no longer need him to caucus with us and give him the Dick Cheney "go F* yourself" as he walks out the door.

Second bonus:

The GOP presidential candidates do not want GLBT issues coming up frequently in the town meetings and speeches. Look how McCain,a seasoned politician, just got schooled by the student in Manchester and how that kid re-framed the GLBT as an equal rights issue and not an issue about lifestyle. The GOP candidates only talk about GLBT enough to throw their base some red meat, but otherwise when trying to appeal to the populist, try to stay away from this topic. Craig's fight will make this issue front and center for as along as the Craig's fight goes on...taking the GOP off of their normal talking points and weakening the GOP candidates even further than they already are.

So say it with me...

GO, CRAIG GO!

1. Dear Senator Craig.
Don't let the Evil-Doers push you out of office. You Need to stay and fight for what it RIGHT.

The Country needs more men like you and you should listen to Senator Specter, he is on your side and is a wise man.

I will be rooting for you to stay in office.

2. Vitter probably has something on a few of his buddies
I'm sure someone like that has set up friends and colleagues with "dates" before and he's probably getting protection and support for keeping his mouth shut.
As much as this Craig issue amuses me it still makes you wonder...don't cops have better things to do like preventing or investigating violent crimes? As long as someone isn't soliciting young, underage boys, how is mine or the public's safety or homeland security at risk because someone is getting a BJ in the toilet?

8. thanks, and to answer your question about the cops...
just like politics, all things are local. There is probably some city council member or other dignitary who has their panties in a pinch over some indecency reports and has laid some pressure on the Police Chief to do something. I am sure the Chamber of Commerce & other civic leaders do not want a bad economic fallout at the airport if visitors and locals think its nothing more than a perv hang out. Remember, a lot of local economies are supported by thriving airports. From what I have read, this special detail is not full-time or regularly scheduled which just adds to the "what are the odds" that Craig got caught one-handed.

9. is public sex a problem?
Not sure if you have ever walked into a restroom where someone is getting a BJ or oral sex as you don't think it is a big deal. We have progressed from thinking sex is dirty to sex is a natural and healthy thing, and now all sex is good sex...

Well is public sex a problem? YES... I have walked in on two women having oral sex in the restroom... it wasn't a thing I would want my child to walk into... It is not the "quietest" thing or private at all!!... Restrooms are generally small and you can see through the doors without trying... you can see there are two sets of feet there...

I can deal with it myself... my child???? my 79 year old mother??? MPLS/St. Paul airport was a posted spot for gay sex... people went looking for it... multiple reports and complaints... and the cops were doing their duty by being there...

do I have a problem with gay sex? no, get out of the closet, out of the restrooms and into a committed gay relationship and restore the sanctity of marriage by not having gay men marry women but let gays be respected and allowed to marry each other...

as to Vitter and Craig? they can both stay and we can see if the repubs still claim to be the party of morals and values in 2008...

4. Third bonus: the legal "discovery phase"
I just blogged about this:

The discovery phase alone could prove a lot more interesting than even the initial info we've already learned about Craig's... um, "wide stance" explanation.

For example:

A map of the airport terminal in question, highlighting the exact location of the "tearoom" restroom in relation to the senator's departure gate

The deposition of Craig's previous gay acquaintances, heretofore suppressed by his plea bargain deal

Senator Craig's computer logs of sites visited to determine the location(s) of gay "tearooms"

Dates, places and times of Craig's flights to and from DC and Idaho, as well as his between-flight times and airport security videos of his restroom usage.

Kinda gives new meaning to the term layover, doesn't it?

Go on, Craig. Fight this. Your hypocrisy obviously knows no bounds, and your stupidity is surely showing if you think the Minneapolis police and the court will just roll over and turn a blind eye to your utter disrespect for the rule of law, Buddy.

I'm sure there's more to learn during the discovery phase, and I hope Craig hangs in there.

6. And, if he manages to regain his Senate seat, surely the man will then become
a powerful advocate for so many others who have been falsely accused and even held for years without being charged or given access to an attorney...

Oh wait, that probably won't happen.
