Why I want Larry Craig to fight for his job.
Not because he deserves it. He's a hypocritical old tool.

But because next week is the Festival of the Divine Petraeus. And I just love the idea of a Craig based media circus distracting from Caesar's Triumph.

Yes, I am a bastard.

3. Hey, you won't get any criticism from me.
I can be as machiavellian as the next guy.

I, too, was delighted to hear he might dig in his men's room heels and try to hang on. GOOD! The longer he drags (pardon the pun) this out, the better! That means he remains on the front of the GOP's collective face like a big, fat, pus-filled zit. EVERY DAY that he stays in the mainstream means EVERY DAY you'll have the whole gay thing discussed - the hypocrisy of those who would condemn and rob others of their civil and privacy rights, while at the same time, living in the shadows as one of them. If you're a gay legislator or one of the legislative staff, and you have power and influence over laws that affect (or afflict) gays, and you push for those and pontificate about the perversion of the gay lifestyle and how it's to be stamped out and marginalized and harshly judged at all costs, then I agree with Mike Rogers on his blog - that you're FAIR GAME. He doesn't out gays on Capitol Hill who don't work and rant and blather on against other gays.

Sorry, it IS Fair Game. And I, too, love the idea of a craig circle-jerk going on when bush wants to push for more war. It keeps a REALLY SWEET and EXTREMELY CLEAR message about how fucked and hypocritical the GOP is on the front burner - where it belongs. And it's a simple, pardon-the-pun straightforward message that's easy for the "I don't do nuance" knuckledragger crowd to wrap its limited, myopic, simplistic, either/or, with-us-or-ag'in-us brainpower around. Long may larry craig wave! As long as he's in the headlines, EVERYTHING else will finish a distant second.

And I'll tell you this: all the craig stuff has completely sucked the oxygen out of that Democratic fundraising guy who's in legal hot water. Nobody gives a damn. It's all larry craig all the time. Which is FINE with me, and a God-given break for the Dems. You know the mainstream media would be all over that one like a cheap suit if it weren't for larry craig. I mean, he even bigfooted the resignation of gonzo. And that was a big one. Like I said. FAIR GAME.

4. While Craig fighting to stay
may be extremely detrimental to his GOP buddies (I just heard thousands of sphincters tightening on Capitol Hill), I am more than a little afraid that it will distract from the necessary work of this Congress: expose and defeat the tyrant's agenda. Craig is a dickhead; even his GOP (former) buddies think so, and the only real final outcome of his "un-resignation" efforts will be his expulsion from the Senate (a good deal more permanent and on-the-record than a simple resignation). Let's get on with it and get back to the real issues: Gonzo lying, Shooter McCheney lying and obfuscating, Dubya resigning in the face of impeachment. Optimism of the Day!

5. Fight for it! Yeah! Crime? What crime?
The more he fights, the worse the republicans look. There's no easy way out for them.
Fight it to the depths of hell.
