Poll question: Larry Craig: A Solution to his "Problem" and Ours?
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 10:52 AM by Totally Committed
I say we should encourage Craig to stay in the Senate, but change Parties!

Oh, I can hear the groans from here!....

But, really -- how are his politics any different than Joe Lieberman's? And, Joe, as we know, sits on our Democratic Committes, even though he's no longer a Democrat. How are Craig's politics any different than say... Ben Chandler's? Ben has a (D) after his name, but votes with Bush almost as often as Craig does. Same with these (D)'s in Congress -- Bud Cramer, Vic Snyder, Mike Ross, Jim Costa, John Salazar, Alan Boyd, Jim Marshall, John Barrow, Leonard Boswell, Dan Lipinski, Melissa Bean, Joe Donnelly, Brad Ellsworth, Baron Hill, Charlie Melancon, Gene Taylor, Tim Walz, Colin Peterson, Mike McIntyre, Bob Etheridge, Heath Shuler, Earl Pomeroy, Charlie Wilson, Zack Space, Dan Boren, Jason Altmire, Chris Carney, Stephanie Herseth, Lamar Davis, Jim Cooper, Bart Gordon, John Tanner, Chet Edwards, Nick Lampson, Ciro Rodriguez, Henry Cuellar, Jim Matheson, and Brian Baird. I know they aren't Senators, but they are Congress people, elected to represent us because of the (D) after their names, but have earned the name "Bush Dog Democrats" because they vote more often with the Republicans than with the Democrats. According to a lot of posters here, there's not a damned thing wrong with voting for these "Democrats", so why not invite Craig into our Party? He could give us a one-vote cushion in the Senate, leaving Lieberman with a little less leverage. (Try reading that sentence outloud five times, fast...!)

Whattaya say, all you "Big-Tenters"????

:)

They help make this Party the stupid and frustrating contradiction it has become.

5. Hey... let's hear it for Reid and Pelosi!
They are monuments to gutless, mindless, spineless, collusionary "leadership" this Party is becoming known for!

Impeachment off the table...

Funding for the Iraqi occupation....

Passing of FISA...

But, they have (D)'s after their names!

7. The Other thread about this got locked, so should this one
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 11:22 AM by jzodda
The other one got locked, this one is no different. This idea is so nonsensical it defies reason and logic. What kind of jerks would we be to take this loser?

8. But, we'd be a 1-vote stronger majority!
Think about it. It's makes a certain illogical sense.

10. He couldn't get re-elected as a Democrat
And IMO he's going to have a very tough time getting through the GOP primary. Your incumbency advantage is neutralized when your party no longer supports you.

It looked like it was all over for Lieberman, too, until the Party stepped in and made sure he got elected instead of Lamont. F*ck the Democratic voters of CT! I say, Craig COULD get that sort of support if he came over to this side.... ;)

13. Especially if he joins the DLC! (A match made in heaven....)
I can see it now -- CLINTON/CRAIG '08 -- "Bipartisanship means never having to say you're sorry!"

It could be a real CUMBAYA moment in history!

14. An apology to the DLC for that idea...
I know Craig isn't exactly you're "kind", but being that he's already Republican, he's half-way there. I know if you take him under your corporatist wings and teach him how to REALLY "play the game", he could do you proud.

So, forgive me for getting ahead of myself, but -- really -- think about it. ONe Big Party is really ALL we need!
