obama stinks in the morning, says wife, lol
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/09/06/tales-from-the-obamas-bedroom/

"In an interview with Glamour magazine, Michelle Obama reveals that her husband, Barack, is so “snore-y and stinky” when he wakes up in the morning that their daughters won’t crawl into bed with him."

97. You do know there's a vast chasm between a Donna Reed spouse
and a spouse who frequently enjoys putting her spouse down in public?

The husband of a friend of mine does this to her in front of me and it makes me very uncomfortable. There is a danger that Michelle Obama could have people like me reacting the same way.

6. That's information I don't need or want in order to decide who gets my vote for POTUS.
I don't care what Obama smells like in the morning, how much Edwards' haircuts cost, how manly Fred Thompson smells, how great Kucinich's diet is for his libido, if Bill and Hillary live together or not, or any other random chunklet of personal info I'm given about a candidate in place of REAL INFORMATION.

Is the candidate a corporatist or a populist? Is he anti-war or a war-monger? Where does (s)he stand on universal healthcare, equal rights for all Americans, a woman's right to choose, the seperation of Church and State, the economy.... you know, all those pesky details.

The media needs to give us more real information, and a whole lot less of the personal stuff. It's their way of keeping us ignorant, while feeling informed.

She certainly did say that and I was shocked/horrified. Enough of this putting your husband down Michele....we know he's not an elitist and he's down to earth human. We got the message!

Maybe this is just PR...saying something shocking so people will come listen to her to hear the next shocker. That's what that she dog with the adams apple does.

37. MO's words: ".. because he’s too snore-y and stinky, they don’t want to ever get into bed with him."
MO: My hope and my gut is that I am just Mommy. We have this ritual in the morning. They come in my bed, and if Dad isn’t there—because he’s too snore-y and stinky, they don’t want to ever get into bed with him. But we cuddle up and we talk about everything from what is a period to the big topic of when we get a dog: what kind?

http://www.glamour.com/news/articles/2007/09/michelleobama?currentPage=2

Note: I found the above Glamour article/interview in another thread posted by an Obama supporter here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3501231

76. Funny, we didn't hear the same kind of faux indignation with this about the Edwards::
http://www.esquire.com/features/edwardsgothic0807-2

"I hope this isn't too personal," I said to Edwards, "but I was reading about how Elizabeth discovered her cancer this second go-around. It was a broken rib, correct?"

"Yes," Edwards said.

"The papers said you were hugging her -- which is always nice to hear, a married guy hugging his wife. It must have been bizarre. What happened, you just hugged her and heard a snap?"

"Maybe it is a little personal," Edwards said, laughing self-consciously.

"Maybe I don't want to know?"

"It was a perfectly reasonable question," he said, bailing me out.

"So hugging was perhaps a euphemism?"

"That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it," he said, raking his forelock with his fingers.

Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 10:25 PM by zulchzulu
OK.

Obama is a human.

What the hell was I thinking?

I guess that's a reason to support the other candidates instead.

I hear their shit doesn't stink...or so their response would be to this article. His body odor in the morning is "naive"...

That's what I'm looking for in a World Leader...someone who smells like Old Spice ALL THE TIME.

45. You seem to care enough about it to call the OP "beyond tasteless" because of what MO said.
Michelle Obama is the one who volunteered the info in an interview, not the OPer.

I'm not going to continue this subthread w/you; it's gotten "beyond tasteless"

OK,

There have been posts made in this thread that claims that Michelle's remarks show a lack of decorum for the White House. A blow job by an intern also shows a lack of decorum. Because this happend to Hillary nothing is said by the Hillary supporters about this. That's the hypocrisy.

For the record, I don't care that Bill had a blow job or that Obama did drugs.

I don't know what he's done to you to engender such animosity.

It's unfortunate that you can't find any redeeming qualities in him, afterall, he human like the rest of us.

Hillary is not my preferred candidate but if she's the nominee I will support her. It becomes increasingly difficult for me and many others to do this when we witness the lengths that the anti-Obama members use to discredit him.

It's the same for those who are Hillary supporters. I know you all don't like se her trashed either.

I wish we employed better ways in handling these situations and not declare an all out war on the opposing candidate(and their supporters).

83. This is a great comment from the same interview:
Barrack is very much human,” Mrs. Obama tells Glamour in response to a reader who wants to know why Mrs. Obama thinks she has been criticized for discussing her home life in such detail. “So let’s not deify him, because what we do is we deify, and then we’re ready to chop it down. People have notions of what a wife’s role should be in this process, and it’s been a traditional one of blind adoration. My model is a little different — I think most real marriages are.”

I'm glad Michelle has her feet planted firmly on the ground. It's unfortunate that some DU'ers apparently take a perverse satisfaction in making common human traits seem like some sort of unseemly aberration. I don't want a god for a president. I want a human being.
