Through the looking glass--imagining Supreme Court Justice Giuliani--follow me on this one-- |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 11:15 AM by Lobster Martini
"'The time has come,' the Walrus said, 'To talk of many things: Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings'..."
The following is merely speculation about what might happen...but won't. The margaritas were really good.
Rudy Giuliani is not going to get the Republican nomination. Suppose he recognizes this and makes a deal with Mittens.
Then suppose, hypothetically, that Mittens was nominated and won the general election. Who better to nominate for Attorney General than a former Associate Attorney General, particularly one knighted by Queen Elizabeth II--Rudy Giuliani. Hard to reject that nomination, no matter how much damage it does to your teeth.
So Rudy's the new AG. Justice Stevens is--what, 87? Like it or not, there is going to be an opening on the Supreme Court, if not soon, certainly within a Mittens administration. What's Mittens going to do? Well, one option would be to nominate the Attorney General.
Unless Rudy goes nuts and knifes a guy in a bar, I don't see how his nomination could be rejected...if Clarence Thomas' nomination can be approved, anyone (other than Harriet Miers) can get his or her nomination approved.
Hence, Supreme Court Justice for life, Rudy Giuliani.
Please feel free to shoot this down, and hand me the tequila.

1. thing is, dems are leading in every poll |
|
and as the time gets near and the money starts being spent--of which we amazingly have more than the Republicans do--the lead will widen.
Seriously, every democratic front-runner is beating every republican front-runner in the most trusted polls.

2. Absolutely--that's why I said "hypothetically"--just speculating. (n/t) |

Why? Because he stole the spotlight from George on 9/11. Because he embarrassed George with Kerik. There is no way in Hell that petty, spiteful George will give Rudy a damn thing.

The things that the RW fundies want more than anything is more pro-life seats on the court. Rudy's record on abortion is not going to be acceptable to those people.

5. Delusional - It will never ever ever ever happen |
|
1) Rudy makes WAAAAAAY more money in the private sector than in office, and the only office he would ever take and give up his cash is the Oval Office.
2) Rudy has a massive ego. He won't step down unless he is forced out or if he see's his speaking fees take a tumble.
3) Rudy doesn't like to work very hard and anyone who becomes the next AG will have a monster job trying to set things right. Too much work and watchglasses.
4) GOP won't let him near a Judical Bench as he might go rogue, feel a sense of revenge and actually enforce Roe v. Wade & Gun Control. GOP will crush his appointment in committee.
see where I am going on this?
