Obama is the only guy who doesn't get razzed where I work. |
|
First, I want to put out there the standard DU primary season disclaimers that (a) I don't have a fave candidate yet, and (b) I will support (and vote for) the eventual Dem candidate.
:P
Anyway, I work in the aviation industry, and needless to say it is a very conservative environment (and I mean conservative in the traditional sense of the word).
Fox News, Support the Troops, Never Forget, blah blah blah.
Anyway, there is a TV in the break room and any time a Dem candidate comes on they are made fun of or razzed or torn down, EXCEPT for Obama. Every time he comes on, people just kind of watch him. All of the other ones elicit some pretty strong reactions.
I'm not sure why this is, but it is pretty damned interesting.
Weird, huh?

1. He's the leader our country has been waiting for. |
|
He inspires. He unites. He will bring the change we so desperately need.

2. Not weird at all. I've heard and seen the same thing from Republicans here in Georgia. |

3. I've met a lot of Republicans who are moderate who like Obama |
|
Doing grassroots things out in public where people come up and engage in conversation, I've run into many moderate Republicans who like him and would even vote for him.
It's no mistake that in a recent Iowa Republican poll that Obama came in a strong third.
We'll see how it all fits as the nearly five months roll down to when people actually vote.

4. I still lean Edwards- but you are right- EVERYONE seems to like Obama. |
|
I am seeing the exact same things the other posters are saying they are seeing- What is suprising is that some of my pretty hard-core red-neck friends in GA and SC like him.

5. It may just be something very simple like |
|
They may not want to look like racists. Tearing every other candidate down is easy, they're all white guys, except Hillary. But, she's HILLARY, she has always been a target, it would probably be different if it was a different woman.

6. So, were these guys equally respectful of Al Sharpton in 2004? |
|
I don't think so.
Around these parts tearing down black politicians without appearing racist is a highly developed art. I don't think that is a factor.

7. I think a lot has to do with his voice. It is pleasant and you want to listen to it. |

It reminds me of some of the old Motown male vocalists I loved to listen to.

8. I think his wife should not be so candid. |
|
Some of the things she says is really not good for him,. Like the kids think he is stinkey and snores. that is not good for his image. She better watch what she says or she could create a problem for him.

9. I think it's "his wife" Michelle who truly shows his human side. |
|
I really like her open-ness. IMO they are a warm, wonderful and above all else "genuine" MARRIED couple. ;)
