Anyone just see Hoffa on Hardball? Kerry "coming around"? |
|
I am getting a very bad feeling about John Kerry. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but the wooden twenty minute answer to a two minute question finger to the wind John Kerry that I knew from long ago is beginning to stir.
Granted, Hoffa is trying to pitch his own script here, but I do not like what heard re: Kerry "coming around" on trade. If the Wisconsin results are close enough for the Edwards people to spin them in a positive light then I have great cause for concern.
If Kerry wins comfortably, he better show me something in his victory speech, because right now my gut is giving me one gigantic case of the "oh no, not agains."
Voting AGAINST Bush may not be enough - John, give us something to vote FOR. Make the feeling go away.

1. I'm confused about your post |
|
What does "coming around" on trade mean?

It sounded as if Kerry was buying into the Hoffa theory on trade (i.e. restrictions on free trade, tariffs, etc.) Might it be being courted, if not embraced, by Kerry?
I only saw a segment of the interview, but that is what I gleaned from it. Much too simplistic an answer in todays times, but perhaps politically expedient to gather the labor vote?
If others saw the interview in its entirety, please comment. I could be off base here.

5. It means Kerry didn't change his position to please Hoffa. |
|
And this is Hoffa's way of spinning it.

3. Question: did Hoffa say anything about drilling in Alaska? |

4. Would it matter? Teamsters and Kerry are diametrically opposed on ANWR |

But it was something goofy like "Well, John is against drilling in ANWR but he says he'll put that pipeline in" or something like that. I didn't understand it, and Matthews started in with his pre-pubescent voice so I couldn't hear anyway

He implied that Kerry was going to support drilling, but that doesn't make any sense. I later checked Kerry's website and it does say Kerry has proposed an alaskan natural gas pipeline, but NOT ANWR
Hoffa's an ass anyway; like someone else said, everybody else was laughing at him by the end.

10. I see, that makes sense, thanks. |

A dkos poster mention that, and that confused me --- although I am not a big fan of Kerry, his environmental record is outstanding. Hoffa making a fool out of himself would not be a surprise at all (*cough* Teamsters considering supporting Dubya *cough*)

9. Yep, Hoffa said he took Kerry at his word when he said he would put |
|
the pipeline in in ANWAR. That's when Matthews started laughing at him. It's difficult to belive that someone as sophisticated -- maybe I should say worldlywise -- as Hoffa would actually believe Kerry. Hoffa went on to say Kerry said we would be drilling everywhere.
Matthews delicately tried to elicit from Hoffa the fact Bush* had made the same promise to him. Inference: George Bush* promised you this and then went back on his word; connect the dots. Why would you believe Kerry would drill in ANWAR.
"I take him at his word," was Hoffa's response. He reviewed Kerry's position on China's most favored nation status, the imbalance of trade, among other issues. Hoffa said Kerry was aware of the hurting Americans all over the country are feeling. Kerry told him he would form a commission for the creation of jobs and Hoffa will be on it.
Classic case of Kerry being Kerry -- speaking out of both sides of his mouth -- playing both sides of the political street -- saying anything to get votes. As I have stated many times on this site, there's not a whole lot of difference between Kerry and Bush* when it comes to credibility. Flame away if you must.
