Obama criticizes Maureen Dowd over column
For three years, Sen. Barack Obama has decried the Washington pundits who "like to slice and dice America," as he so memorably put it at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

On Friday, Obama, D-Ill., singled out one of those pundits by name: New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.

"Maureen Dowd just this week, she said, 'Oh, he's talking about hope. He should be scratching Hillary,'" said Obama to loud laughter. "Well, I stand guilty as charged. I'm hopeful about America."

Obama was referring to a column Dowd wrote on Wednesday headlined, "The 46-Year-Old-Virgin." In it, she urged Obama to confront his chief rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., more forcefully

3. She has been over the top on him ....
I like Dowd and read all her articles ... she must not like him for some reason. She looks like she is going over the top to go after him.

4. I think Senator Obama let Ms. Dowd off easy. It was a crappy column.
One of her worst ever.

He showed a lot of class in how he handled it.

6. Man, Obama's name really could become a problem, when I saw your headline, I thought it said Osama!
And though, well now we REALLY know the "new Osama bin Laden tape" is fake, if he's going after Maureen Dowd now... DOH!

7. They have some history of this
she ribbed him about his ears, he responded- OBAMA (off mic): You talked about my ears, and I just want to put you on notice: I’m very sensitive about — What I told them was, ‘’I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.”

She also wrote this four days after the mid-term elections:
"Talking about hope and opportunity and inspiration has propelled Barack Obama into the presidential arena. His approach seems downright feminine when compared with the Bushies, or even Hillary Clinton. He languidly poses in fashion magazines, shares feelings with Oprah and dishes with the ladies on ‘’The View.'’

and this in December: Will Hillzilla Crush Obambi?

" ….. So there is a second question, perhaps one that will trump race and gender. It’s about whether he’s tough and she’s genuine."

8. Maureen Dowd is a nasty word to Biden supporters
She was the first one to roll around in the dirt against Biden in '88.

I have no more use for her.

13. Maureen Dowd should also be a couple of dirty words to Gore supporters.
She couldn't smirk and laugh and poke fun of him enough. Couldn't guffaw hard enough at his "earth tones." Couldn't smirk snarkily enough over his "invention of the internet". Like a hyena she is. And no, Maureen, just because you've recently changed your mind and started giving bush that same crass kind of treatment, doesn't mean you're back in MY good graces.

12. When she's good, she's very good; and when she's bad she's horrid
I expect to see a little curl in the middle of her forehead. ;-)
