Isn't Kerrey an Iraq war hawk? :eyes:

3. Can you spell Nebraska? |
|
As in red state? I knew that you could. A dem majority of 54 or 55 will make it possible for progressive legislation to get through. Not to mention that Lieberman will be neutered even if Kerrey votes much as he does. And sadly, the Iraq war will not be ended anyway.

9. Yeah, ESS. NE elected a string of conservative to moderate Dems to the |
|
Senate and to the Governorship. Basically we've had Exon, Zorinsky, Kerrey and Nelson. None a liberal. Most are slammed as DINOs here.
Exon was fairly conservative, Zorinsky was even more so, very Ben Nelson-like so I don't get how NE was ever true blue. NE was never a blue state on the presidential level and always been one of the most Republican states for President.

6. More great news for Democrats... |
|
Virginia, Nebraska, Minnesota, Colorado, New Hampshire...possibly Oregon, Maine
Very good chance we can be looking at 55-56 seats in Democratic hands next year...

I'll feel better when Warner, Kerrey, and Shaheen have all entered their respective races.
Oregon went from top tier battleground to semi-long shot when none of the biggest names wanted to take the fight to Smith, and I'd still put money on the vicious little parasite hanging on for another term.
VA and Nebraska certainly calmed the nerves, though. Eternal pessimist that I am, I've been betting on a zero-sum switch between CO and LA.

He's one of the few with a lick of sense. There are so many more I'd rather see retire.

Seriously, this isn't a sarcastic inquiry.
I hope we don't try to pull another McCain/Kerry this time around.

Hagel is, despite his Iraq war stance, one of the most fire breathing conservative demagogues in the Senate. Why not Brownback? It makes about as much sense.
And I bet it would go over swimmingly with Mrs. Clinton's husband to have her running mate be someone who cheered for his conviction in the Senate.
