15. The right and center will win no matter who gets elected.

If Hillary gets elected we will NOT have single payer universal health care.

2. Are we talking Fred or Tommy?
For that matter, are we talking Hillary or George? I would totally vote for George Clinton.

7. Anyone that thinks Hillary can beat any Republican really needs to start paying attention.
We might lose a lot more than just the White House.

11. Fred Thompson will not win the GOP nomination
Thompson is way overrated. He has already reached his high water mark, mostly thanks to those in the media that keep boosting his candidacy.

He won't win the GOP nomination, and won't even come close to winning it.

14. Yeah, I don't see it either, but...
...who will? I don't think he's got the oomph to do it even if he did break with tradition and exert himself a little.

Really, if I was a Republican strategist right now, I'd be a mess: desperate for ANY candidate who wasn't either a loon or a stiff.

I've said it before, but it's fun to repeat: these guys look like a lineup of Dick Tracy Villains.

Pretty-boy Droid's a Mormon; forget that.

Giuliani's a one-note fearmongering, baby-killing Catholic who's on his third wife and likes to hire criminals while he's wearing a dress.

Huckabee might actually have a shot at it, especially since a majority of Americans don't believe in evolution either, but he's goofy and clunky way beyond mere folksiness.

Brownback's got that unfortunate last name for a sodomy-hater, and he's so far right that even reactionaries get itchy.

Paul's an amusing bit of proof that they really do have a "big tent". Unfortunately, the Ringling Brothers want it back.

Except for the top two, they've got about as much pizzaz as a Cigar Store Indian, and whoever gets the nod will have some serious 'splainin to do.

Still, the argument that the enemy's pathetic doesn't shake my perception of Hillary's unelectability, and that's not a good feeling.

12. In simple terms,
One thing I will say as I have known this for the longest and it will help others in here that support HRC.Lets understand something about the polling on HRC's negatives. Many in here that support Obama and Edwards and any of the more qualified others over look the fact that HRC's negatives are clustered mainly among Republicans and Republican leaning independents who would not likely vote for her in any circumstance.....So, do not let the negatives bring you down. Know from whom they are coming....One other thing, many on the right and many in here fail to grasp the crucial role that SYBOLISM plays in politics. Once HRC wins the nomination HRC will make her bid be the first ever WOMAN president of the United States. The key is WOMAN....and folks that is a BIG DEAL. It will over shadow every other issue and image in the campaign and HRC will campaign not as a woman but as the best qualified and best experienced and the one which can and will bring back America.....That my friends is the election of 08....

I do thank you
Ben David

13. If the poll was "who's taller", there are people here who'd vote for her
Lots of them.

Some would even do it with a vehemence that dismissed anyone who would even think of disputing it.

Look at some REAL polls.

It's scary, depressing, infuriating and incomprehensible how hell-bent for bizarre disaster so very many people seem to be.

16. I think Senator Clinton carries the day against Freddie. That's his actual name,
Edited on Sun Sep-09-07 03:47 AM by Old Crusoe
by the way. "Freddie" and not "Fred." http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2007/09/freddie.html

Thompson is busying himself replicating the GOP fear-mongering sloganeering route to power that Dubya took, without realizing that the components have outlived their usefulness, even if Freddie is tall and tv-savvy.

In your matchup with these two, Freddie brings leftovers and Senator Clinton brings historic novelty.

Also Freddie looks kinda dumpy out on the campaign trail in Iowa. Senator Clinton looks great these days.
