"Ohio is very blue these days"
Overall, the poll showed Democrats holding the upper hand against Republicans in all but one of 12 possible general election matchups, a sign that right now Ohio appears to be continuing a Democratic trend that started with major victories last year.

"Ohio is very blue these days," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

In a race against Republican Rudolph Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, Clinton, a U.S. senator from New York, led 47-40 percent, compared with a 43-43 deadlock between the two in an Aug. 8 Quinnipiac poll. She also had leads over other Republicans: Arizona Sen. John McCain, 46-41 percent; former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, 49-37 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 50-37 percent.

In the race for the Democratic nomination, Clinton led Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, 44-15 percent, while former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards had 11 percent and former Vice President Al Gore, 8 percent.

1. That is good to hear!
Ohio has a proud Democratic tradition, and I am glad to hear that this is returning!

The state is important electorally as well, so it could well be pivotal in '08...

2. I think most of Ohio has had it with Republicans.
Except for a few deep little pockets where logic does not touch...They know the corrupt Republican government never did anything for the average Ohioan and they're sick of having their votes stolen. Very few people still support extremists like Ken Blackwell anymore. Most of Ohio is really not Rod Parsley country and thinks Jean Schmidt is full of what her name rhymes with. Many votes were cast in '06 with an eye to ridding us of these miserable jerks. I look forward to the whole state going blue in '08.

...on Diebold machines in 2008!

5. I know I did last year.
I voted absentee even though I wasn't going to be away, just so I wouldn't have to deal with any kind of machinery skullduggery.

6. Smart move!
We're all going to have to be sure our vote counts somehow.
