Not enough votes?
We all call for impeachment, but would we succeed? Will we have the numbers of votes in the Senate especially to make a call for impeachment work?

Except for DINO Lieberman, we should be able to count on all Dems, but can we secure the additional votes necessary? There MUST be a sufficient number of Republicans who would like to see an impeachment of the embarrassment to their party, but who are they? Should we start leaning on moderate Pubs to make impeachment stick? Or should we face reality and realize that nothing we can do will give us that satisfaction?

Let's discuss.

1. My dear hyphenate!
I really don't give a damn if we have enough votes to convict!

The point is: We need to show the world that we care about right and wrong...

And the bushbots have done so much wrong that they need to be taken to task for it!

We need to try, damn it! That is all.

6. I hear ya...but
I don't think that matters!

We need to show everyone (and I do mean everyone!) that we are willing to spend our political capital on such an attempt!

It's OK to fail......but first you have to try!

Otherwise, we're spineless...

2. The Republicans didn't have the votes to convict. They still impeached Clinton over NOTHING...
I, for one, don't want to make the congress the political ping-pong ball to have revolving impeachments, but come ON - lying us into a war, lying out getting us out, lying about wiretapping, etc etc etc etc ???

There's PLENTY of things which we SHOULD impeach AND REMOVE this administration for. As I just wrote in another message - the Democrats are doing the job of convincing people that GOVERNMENT DOESN'T WORK...

5. That's another issue I have. Monicagate ruined the impeachment option.
Pandora's box was opened when the Pukes impeached Clinton, I fear the Average Joe will cynically ignore all arguments for impeachments as a cover for political opportunism. The stunt the Republicans pulled in 1998 may have left us royally screwed.

7. Executive Privilege
does not apply in impeachment investigations. Make them accountable. Note to the Democratic Caucus: Impeach or go home. We've had enough.

9. It must be done for the reasons stated above and more.
We forget in our little bubble here just how out of touch the sheeple really are. They have no idea of the number, nor the magnitude, of arbusto® & Associates crime spree and a recounting of them in the public forum of a Senate trial will either outrage them, and thereby force their Republik Senators (at least those interested in re-election) to vote for justice, or prove once and for all to the world that we are the enemy and must be defeated.

We must be reminded that we are the government and we are responsible for what is done in our name. Politicians are just like business people, they have only two motivations, fear and greed. The sheeple's complacency has removed fear, so they currently are only working from greed.

12. Would we get all Dems?
I would say that Ben Nelson would definitely be against us.

Blue Dogs Landrieu and Pryor, both up for re-election, would probably betray the Dems.

Bill Nelson is always a leading candidate to side with the GOP. And not sure about new Senators Webb and Tester.

13. You wouldn't even get enough votes in the House to impeach
and definitely not enough votes in the Senate to convict.

Wanting to impeach just for show is silly. Without a shot at success, it's better NOT to do it.
