Mark is The Little Boy Oprah Couldn't Forget.

He is a 6-year old former child slave in Ghana. He was rescued by the International Organization for Migration, with the financial assistance of a woman from Missouri, and now lives in the Village of Hope.

1. I am always
leery of these organizations. Does a good percentage of donations go to the children directly?
If so, I am ready to contribute.

Snoop around a bit. "Village of Hope" seems to be a project of:

"The churches of Christ are non-denominational, autonomous Christian congregations. These churches comprise about 2,000,000 members in over 40,000 individual congregations worldwide."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Christ

Looks like a fine organization to me.
