I'm in the middle of writing about my weekly Obama table report, but wanted to give a shout out to people who might want to know what other tables for other Presidential candidates were at the largest Fighting Bob Fest ever. This is evidence of solid, confident grassroots support.
Tables for: John Edwards Dennis Kucinich Bill Richardson Barack Obama Ron Paul
No Shows: Joe Biden Chris Dodd Mike Gravel Hillary Clinton
As for the rest of the candidates, there was no representation.
I wore stickers for all the Democratic candidates represented while there.

2. Do any of these candidates have literature for tables? |
|
I have tried to get some printed material from several of the campaigns for an event and was told, "Go to www......." That's not what people want. They want to pick up a glossy brochure and read their positions on the issues and get a sense of their direction and not just told to go to a web address. Older people, especially, dislike this. How much literature, in the way of brochures, etc. have you seen? If you have - let me know, we've got another big event coming up and need material!

3. Everyone had something to give away |
|
Each table had bumperstickers, buttons and other merchandise. Each also had printed materials of issues from the web sites. The Obama table used issue papers from the campaign that can be downloaded from the site. The Kucinich table had speeches and other key points.
None of them had "official" campaign printed materials, aside from the stickers and buttons. It was all grassroots.
I've definitely been giving out printed materials for people to take with them. You say to just go to the web site and you essentially lose someone who might support the candidate. Even young people like a piece of paper with info to walk away with.
