Let's say we wind up facing Rudy Giuliani in 08
What do you think will be the hardest thing for Obama, Clinton and Edwards to overcome in order to win IF they wind up running against Rudy?

3. LOL! But I mean, seriously; What is the issue or thing
only Rudy might use effectively against our candidates? What is the issue or thing our candidates would have to overcome if they wind up facing Rudy?

17. Idiot sheep and bots might actually buy his hero of 9-11 PR crap
other than that,

He is a crooked opportunist in a nice suit, backtracks on any stand he took that gets in the way of where he wants to go. Hangs with a lot of other crooked opportunitst. Shouldn't be hard to beat, IF the votes are counted accurately.

DEMS just have to take his real history to him in a campaign.

7. Rove politics--you attack your opponent's strengths. Rudy's
supposed strength is security and terrorism, which is a joke. Shouldn't be too hard to rip giant holes in this particular "strength". I don't think he'll have anything on Obama, especially since Obama has more experience and knowledge about foreign policy. Hillary--I dunno. He ran against her before, and weenied out. Doubtful he has more to hit her with this go-round.

9. Yes. I'd say their failure to do THAT. If they fail to attack his strengths,
they'll fail, PERIOD. You HAVE to punch holes in those and create reasonable doubt.

You HAVE to create reasonable doubt. In fact, that should be one of their memes - REASONABLE DOUBT.

8. the hardest thing to overcome would be his appeal to moderates and independents
We all know that moderate/maverick doesn't always mean better, but the most valuable lesson I think we took away from the Lieberman/Lamont thing in Connecticut is that many people who consider themselves moderate or independent are much more likely to vote for someone who is constantly described that way, even though the majority of their policies might be repugnant to them. The example I'm talking about is how well Lieberman did in CT among registered voters who were not members of a political party but were staunchly anti-war-- despite knowing Lieberman's single-minded obsession with furthering this damned catastrophe, they voted for him because he was "independent... like me."

10. Nothing

I feel that about all of the contenders in the GOP right now.
It looks to me like the GOP is intent on self-destructing and making themselves irrelevant for the near future.
Rudy epitomizes that.

I also think that of those three, each of them would have different things to overcome but it is not really in reference to Rudy.

12. I can't believe Giuliani is a serious threat.....
The Christian Right doesn't like his marital history, he's not from the South (Republican-land), like it or not 9/11 is fading in many Americans' memories and New Yorkers have come to hate him, and finally, he lacks charisma and is seriously doofus-looking.

I can't for the life of me understand why he's polling so well.

If we end running against Giuliani I think it will be a cakewalk.

and so will any other Pubbie; and the MSM will let them get away with it. Which is why Wes Clark should be at or near the top of everyone's VP list.

16. Honestly?
I've had to really think about this. Nothing. I believe any of those three could beat the stuffing out of Ghouliani. Ahh - I lived in Monroe County NY when he came up against Hillary . . . Even there -just about the Reddest County in NY? He couldn't have beat her there.

I know there are Democrats that will disagree with me on this - but if he is chosen . . . I'd love to see my party get scathing, vile and vicious. He's an easy target in my book. GRAVELL could beat him! LOL

…has been building up the Ghoul as the hero of 9/11 for 6 years now.

Our candidate will have a very difficult time fighting the media image that has been built up and will continue to be built up.

21. It's not "swift-boating". Don't call it that.
The accusations about Ghouliani are completely true. He's a fraud who's trying to get himself elected president on the backs of thousands of dead New Yorkers, most of whom probably didn't even like him.

23. That Only Works if the Media Reports Them
You would have thought that the skeletons in Bush**'s closet would have doomed his political career, but the Repiglickin media does not report that which makes their people look bad.

Your are RIGHT. It's not 'Swift Boating' - it's TRUTH TELLING. Truth be told at last about what a dirtbag he is. That's the only terminology that comes to mind when I think about the ultimate of nastiness in politics. So - He will be Truth Boated.

25. I Am Worried About All of the Repiglickin Candidates
Even Ron Paul is pretty bad, the rest scare the hell out of me.

We would have a very difficult time beating either the Ghoul or Thompson given that either one of them will have the full weight of the Mighty Slime Machine and Diebold behind them.

If the Hillary juggernaut has become unstoppable as the primary approaches, it may be worth a temporary party switch to vote for Ron Paul in the primary.

26. Well, yeah,
any of the R candidates would be bad news for the Dems, if elected. And Rudy might be the most dangerous, according to some polls anyway. But he won't make it past the primaries. The conservative base flat out despises him.
