3. She needs to get
Off her yin yang wazoo and fire up The House to end the Iraq War now. Next time 'funding' the folly comes up - she must take a stance of "we refuse to waste one more dollar of the American people's money on this stupidity.

8. She should have begun impeachment proceedings a long time ago, even
if they would have failed. At least it would show she had some backbone. I know what Repub reaction would have been - that she wanted to be the first lady pres but she would have gained the respect of our party. It is too late now!!!

5. Pitiful. Disappointing. Disgusting. Spineless. Gutless.

I could go on, but I think you see where I'm going with this.... We are not being represented by those we elected.

Just one example of HOW we aren't being represented. She's doing great for Bush, though.

11. Before coming to power She never should have said
that "Impeachment is off the table", because that statement basically set the tone and told Rethuglicans and * that they could continue to carry on as if the American people had no say in what happens to the US.

There was a brief moment of pride that a Democratic Women was the first female Speaker of the House....

Women back me up on this....if you are a women in a powerful position you have to exceed and excel beyond male counterparts....that's just the way it is.....Nancy has allowed the Rethuglicans to dictate and impact what is happening as the minority party......and because of that she is seen as week and not willing to delivery the the blow that will knock the Rethuglicans for a loop....

12. Pretty Underwhelming
I feel like she takes us antiwar folks for granted. I have heard that the Rahm Emanual strategy is to keep the war going so they can tie it around the Republican's necks for '08. Pelosi made promises that she could not keep. She disappoints me, but I guess it's okay, she's one of the better leaders we have in Washington based on her voting record.

15. I don't understand what these critics expect.
How....can......any......democratic......speaker get anything done about stopping the war? When they don't have the votes and bush has veto power. I think this congress has done a hell of a job under the circumstances they had to work with. If they had about three more senators it would have been a darn different story.

18. Agreed.
Anyone who expected a complete and total 180 in DC after the '06 elections is either naive or stupid. The House majority is owned by the center-right Blue Dogs. The Senate majority is thanks solely due to UnHoly Joe. Does anyone seriously expect much to get done with Congress split up like this?

Garbage posts like "Pelosi Sucks!!!" makes me wish there was an option to label other posters as a "Forum Idiot". Should work very much like the ignore function, but instead of hiding all of a person's posts, a small "Forum Idiot" message will be displayed beside their username to remind you that you don't have a high opinion of what they are saying.

19. Without a veto-proof majority, what do the Pelosi bashers have in mind?
I guess high school civics classes were missed by some of the DUers here.

Hey, isn't everything like a video game?

20. Weak Spineless political fool
She has given the president a blank check with no accountability what so ever. She has chosen the path of appeasement instead of confrontation. She enables these criminals instead of defending the constitution for mere political expediency. She can't maintain a unified vote from her own party on many issues--this is the text book definition of weak.

By not opposing the president vigorously enough, the vast majority of Americans will view her as complicit and weak in the crimes of *. By extension, they will view the entire Democratic party as weak. Because it always comes down to the rationale that if "they can't even stand up to the Republicans, how can they stand up to the terrorists? (or the communists? or whatever bogeyman the corporatism creates to keep selling the war machine).

The people expect the party of the loyal opposition to OPPOSE not enable, equivocate, and play politics with our very nation. I'm heartbroken in my disappointment and no longer call myself a democrat for these very reasons. When people ask I'm now an independent to the left of the dem party.
