Nothing against having a debate in Spanish |
but there should have been some way for there to have been English subtitles for that debate. The vast majority of people in the US speak English as their first, and in many cases only, language. Those people should have been able to follow this debate. This debate was entirely unwatchable for anyone who didn't have a terrific grasp of Spanish (I also think having the English answer in the backround would have been distracting for them). I would have liked to watch the debate and heard the candidates stands on some issues that likely won't be addressed elsewhere. But my very limited grasp of Spanish made that impossible. I used to watch Canadian debates when I lived in northern Ohio and they had questions and answers in both English and French. The debates took longer but all residents were able to understand and evaluate the answers in their native tongues.

1. The subtitles should be in SPANISH and the audio in English, or include SAP audio |
It was excruciating to try to understand what those mediocre translators were saying, and Spanish is my native language.

2. that would have helped |
I found for the very short time I tried to watch that the translators were pretty mediocre in terms of tone and emotion. I also, since the English audio was there, kept trying to listen to it only to have it drowned out by the Spanish. Your idea would have worked much better.
