MN POLL: Franken within five points of Coleman (46 / 41)
Minnesota Senate
Coleman at 46% Democrats Close Behind
Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Minnesota is likely to host one of the more interesting and competitive Senate races in Election 2008.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone poll of the race shows incumbent Senator Norm Coleman (R) attracting just 46% support from voters and holding very modest leads over two Democrats seeking his job.

Coleman, a freshman Senator, leads comedian Al Franken (D) 46% to 41%. Coleman’s level of support is unchanged from our previous poll, conducted in March. In that earlier poll, Coleman led Franken 46% to 36%.

2. Given how weak Coleman is,

I'm disappointed the Democrats are only now beginning to catch up to him. I like Al, but I'm not sure he was the right candidate for this. It's encouraging how much support he's gained, and it's discouraging that none of it was crossover. This'll be a nasty one.

5. Republicans don't see their own failings
We are not making the case that Republican philosophy is at the heart of all the problems in this country. It is stunning that we could have so many disasters caused by the belief that we shouldn't fund government - and the people who believe that still have support.
