All these back room Shenanigans going on in the Democratic House Caucus… |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 02:48 PM by WCGreen
Could very well lead to an outbreak of Blue Flu come next November…?
I think they sometimes forget that money isn’t everything and that gathering enough money, while handing out chits, doesn’t always work…. Ask Nelson Rockefeller…
It does seem to be the only way these folks, Nancy P and Emmanuel know how to run a campaign. Toss enough money around and your guy or gal elected. Boom Boom it’s done…
But this approach to politics leaves out what is the most important, as the GOP discovered in 2006, aspect of any good campaign; the passionate volunteers…
You can have all the money you want but if you continually neglect the base, or act contrary to what you profess to believe, then that spark of passion goes poof and the campaign is suddenly left with dollars and nothing else…
I wonder if Nancy forgets that it takes a lot of volunteers to man the phones, put up the yard signs, stand at the polls, do phone and door to door canvassing and all the other stuff that the Guys and Gals in suits feel is beneath them…
Well if they keep at it, alienating the base, Blue Flu just might spread like the Red Flu did for the GOP in 2006…
And there is no vaccine for this Flu…
The only thing that can cure a case of the Blue Flu is plenty of attention to people outside of the beltway, the people who worked hard to bet you where you are now, the people who do all the work for you so that you can represent them in congress. That is the only way to inoculate yourself from the dreaded disease also known as The Full of Yourself Shits…
I spent a lot of time defennding the actions of the in crowd in Washington, no more...

1. And people still consider Cindy a kook? |
|
Is she?
I thought she may have gone too far, but now I wonder. Who, precisely, are the Dems in congress representing these days?
Some of them are still representing US. But the others?
It's a question worth asking.

No vaccine for this flu...
They want our money...
They must have forgotten about how important our passion is...
Or maybe they think we're so stupid as to not notice what they're not doing on our behalf...
I'm frustrated with them, big time...

5. Impeachment Is A Panacea |
|
It can begin to reverse the effects of Congenital Fecklessness, Euphemedia-Induced Blindness, Strategery Addiction, and even Constitutional Cancer.
One interesting "side effect" is converting Blue Flu into BlueMania with a single dose.

9. Thanks, I'll check it out... |

I spent Eight years trying to mobilize the grass roots in the Cleveland area and found out that it truly is a difficult job...
We managed a lot of coverage but there was a great deal of self interest involved...
I think it is like that mostly everywhere...
When Move On came to town in 2004, boy they really pulled some silly shit like trucking in kids from Harvard to tell long time activists how to get the vote out in Cleveland...
They burned a lot of bridges by having a we know what is best for you, you aren't as smart as us so there atitide...
Well, that was evident, that grassroots can't be brought in, so to speak, it is almost organic in nature and developes over the years...
But, having said that, presidential campaigns are a truly different beast...
But still, most of the party volunteers here in Cuyahoga County are the same ones, year after year...

12. Yes, organizing is nothing if not lots of hard work. And you are so right, |
|
personalities clash, turf is faught over, and there is negative human interaction that distracts from the shared political goals.
Life is rich.

8. Yep. Kucinich is the only candidate that deserves support now. |
|
The others need to follow his example.

10. With the Republicans continuing to screw up so badly the congressional Dem's don't need to pander, |
|
except to their moneyed 'friends', the base has never been more irrelevant. And no, letting the occupation continue till '08 will not hurt them much, because there will be no alternative, it's either stay the course with the Republicans or vote Democratic. (Not that I'm assured a Dem President will actually move to end the mess with any expediency.) So until the right finally gets their shit together again, the left is just an irritation. Look at the behavior of the Leadership, their contempt is obvious.

You said a mouthful. You get the impression that they feel we should be seen and not heard. Or better yet, not be seen at all until Nov '08.
It's probably our own fault for not knowing our place.
