Kucinich and Sharpton are the most necessary candidates and debaters |
|
They may or may not get a nomination from a brokered convention. However, they are bringing up issues that the candidates who are getting higher percentages would never risk bringing up alone. Kucinich and Sharpton are taking the heat off of Kerry and Edwards and both Kerry and Edwards are both benefiting greatly from the presence of Kucinich and Sharpton. Whether they win or not, they are raising the level of the debate and are speaking for most Americans who don't have a platform to speak for themselves.

2. Irony: the more truth a candidate tells, the less "electable" he is. |
|
Some might argue that the causation runs in the other direction: ie, that the less a candidate has to lose by telling the truth, the easier it is for him to do so.
Though there's probably something to that, IMO, truth-telling is systematically punished. I'd rank the 5 remaining guys in order of truth-telling: 1) (tie) DK and AS 3) Dean 4)Edwards 5) Kerry. The vote rankings are exactly the opposite.

|
Dennis could wind up the nominee.

I'm so angry at the FOUR threads talking about how they should be excluded from the debates.

8. I agree with you, completely |
|
Sharpton, with nothing to lose, has continued to speak out against the Bush* administration on a myriad of subjects, to the delight and frequent applause and ovations of his audiences. Not only is he a gifted speaker, he brings up issues that all the candidates should be speaking about.
Dennis Kucinich is my candidate. I know that he hasn't a prayer. But he continues to speak out against NAFTA and the WTO and the Iraq war, no matter how dearly this costs him in terms of popular support. He refuses to compromise or tone down his message.
Both of these candidates, IMO, bring important issues to the table, which the frontrunners are forced to address. I am extremely pleased that neither seem to be disheartened and have remained in the race. We need them to keep us focused on the most important issues at hand.
