Code Pink - Rodeo Clowns of the Left
Before you think I am denigrating them - I am not.

Both groups are brave people in funny outfits who put themselves at risk in precarious and unpredictable situations in order to save others.

I admire them. If they stopped showing up, I think they would be missed. They are great street theatre.

1. Yeah, it's really important to have this element involved.
It can't be all serious, all the time. Too damned boring!

3. I tip my hat to them
Beats sitting on your ass complaining. There is nothing more valuable than time....and they give up that to try and make a difference.

4. Rodeo Clowns
are remarkably fearless.. and often save the ass of the cowboy.

It is just a short step to "Rodeo Bullfighter". . The difference is mainly makeup.

5. Often, the best way to defuse a situation or illustrate how stupid it is, is to laugh
And as others have pointed out, the job of a rodeo clown is to save the lives of others by putting themselves at risk.

My 20 gallon hat and big, floppy boots off to them. :patriot:

9. Remember Yippies? And then there's the Leiberman Kissmobile
and Billionairs for Bush.

Comedy as the flip side of tragedy. Ridicule is a powerful weapon.

6. I don't agree with everything they do, but I'm glad they are there
I thought it was great they crashed the Patraeus Puff Question Party.

8. It's not easy....garnering
the attention of politicians and media these days. Every time someone mentions the lazy, ignorant, uncaring American sheeple who do nothing in the face of the illegal, immoral activity taking place at the behest of this government, I wonder if they actually search to see the local protests going on across the nation..because unless they search diligently..they will not find them. I find it quite comical that when those few dissenters manage to have their actions see the light of day, they are vilified for the course they took to achieve their goals. It seems unless other people risk life and limb in an approved manner it is just not good enough, or even harmful to the cause. If I were to attempt to merely travel to the nation's capital and hold up my sign, my life along with the family that depends on me would be at risk. Would my anonymous position out on the curb serve the cause?

10. says the armchair quaterback from the safety of her internet connection
when you risk your own jailtime to save this country from worldwide nuclear showdown, let me know, till then, your comments are both blatantly reminiscent of folks who sat idly by while only a few tried to save the jews sent to concentration camps.

if dressing up in pink is what it takes to get the attention of the war monger criminals so be it.

but equating both sides as similar is not only an affront to the peace movement, it shows remarkable ignorance.

11. ??? To Whom are you responding?
"but equating both sides as similar is not only an affront to the peace movement, it shows remarkable ignorance."

I have read every post so far and I don't see anyone "equating both sides as similar"

Who is the armchair quarterback?

12. I'm sorry, was a little sensitive
have read so many Anti-Code Pink threads here on DU thought you were denigrating the ladies in Pink.

saw another thread about code pink behaving like clowns, and did not really get the gist of your post.

I guess my post is that the generals who lie to the public are not brave and not courageous and risk nothing more than a paycheck to be a mouthpiece.

the code pinkers risk jobs and livelihoods to be in DC for these crucial meetings and therefore in true apples to apples, they sacrifice much more than the generals sitting before them with all the tacky little bright colored squares on their uniform.

Code Pink's medea benjamin has easily been more effective at her activities by generating a brand of outrageous activists in pink and I would not equate that to the drab army green we are so sick of seeing get sent all over the world to maim citizens on behalf of US corporate interests....

15. Did you read the OP before responding?
I understand that the intent is to be funny and to be outrageous and to use ridicule.

When did people stop reading entire OP,(not just the title) and maybe other people's responses before jumping to inane conclusions and rebutting arguments that were never made?

16. Yes but I resent your OP title. I get where
you are coming from but your OP title is insulting and misleading.
(and adds fuel to the fire already being burned on Code Pink)

Your comment about my "even reading the OP" is also insulting.

I read EVERY OP I comment on; BEFORE I comment!!

You should have understood that from my reply.
