Poll question: I think I may vote for Biden now.
I just watched this video here from hardball with him discussing Iraq and the troops and was very impressed.

If the primary were today, I think I would vote for Biden. Will I feel the same way months from now? Don't know. It's either Biden or Obama at this point, I think. Watch the video and then decide if you would vote for Biden.

4. He represents Delaware, the state were many major industries are incorporated
Employees of these Delaware-incorporated industries may benefit from the bill. Convinced? Nah didn't think so, but it's the best defense of Biden I could muster.

16. Any candidate who has been in the senate or congress
for many years will have voted on something that a voter disagrees with. As president, the candidates will represent the entire country, not just one state or district.

I'm looking at the big picture, as well as experience, expertise, knowledge, and character. For me, Biden is my first choice at this time.

7. As a rule, it's wise to look at a candidate's history. A good TV appearance
a candidate doesn't make. MSM is giving Biden a lot of free publicity - there's a reason for it. And I always love quoting it:
However, Biden also had blunt advice for European critics: "I have one
simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our
president for the next four years. So get over it and start to act in
your interest, Europe.''..........

Where he took the extra step of bringing up Obama's status, without permission, in front of a majority black audience.

13. After waiting for Wes Clark to get into the race
decided he wasn't going to, started looking around closer at the others and settled on Biden. Hey, I could change my mind and also realize that he probably won't be our candidate as he lacks money and seldom is mentioned when news folks are discussing Dem candidates. It's all about the conflict between Obama and Hillary and their polling numbers and then they occasionally throw in Edwards.

14. I respect the fact that people say they could change their minds
It is still early and we don't know how things will look later down the line. There are unforeseen events that could make or break some candidacies. I am keeping an open mind as I have declared that I would vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever that is. That is one reason I will not bash any of the other candidates.

For now Joe Biden is my first choice.

20. he's still peddling the chaos nonsense
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 09:32 PM by sandnsea
As if it isn't already chaos in Iraq and as if the solution isn't confronting the countries in the region that are contributing to the chaos. Our presence is a diversion, not a solution. Biden is sincere in his position, but by the time he realizes he's wrong about something, the rest of the country has moved on. He gave Condi Rice a grilling, and then he turned around and voted for her. He does that stuff all the time. He goes right to the edge where you're ready to stand right behind him, and then, kaplewie. He needs to be tougher on the war funding too, and he'll probably be one of the first to concede the timeline, if he hasn't already. That's why I can't support Biden.

22. Well Said
He frequently speaks reasonably, and then turns around and votes for the conventional idiocy. Sure he can be compelling when he speaks about something he knows about, but he also says a lot of stupid things. I'll concede the way he reasons has appeal to middle America but he's too much of a centrist yes-man for me. There's so many great candidates in this race--too many for me to consider voting for Biden, who I simply cannot forgive for being one of the primary Democratic yes-men for this catastrophe in Iraq. He had all the info needed to vigourously oppose the policy and chose the easy path of capitulation and self-delusion.

That said he's been going well lately--I liked the way he grilled Petraeus. I like how he tells Matthews we have to get out. Ok, Joe--you're halfway there. Now start voting your convictions. Not another dime for what you acknowledge is a failure.

21. I consider Biden the most experienced
especially on foreign policy, and I can't understand why his numbers aren't higher. I don't agree with some of his votes, but I don't agree with anyone 100% of the time. I really do wish he was polling better.

He is extremely emotional about the war, and he has a son heading over there. He has also had what seems to be the only reasonable plan to get us out of the mess, and he's had it for a while.

In the primary, I want to vote for someone who can win, and I also want Hillary not to win - not because of personal dislike of her, but because I don't think she can win the general. If Biden is doing better in the polls at that time, I would vote for him, no problem. Things can, and probably will, change.

If the "top three" remain the top three, I'll vote for Obama, who I believe has the intelligence and common sense to surround himself with smart and experienced people. Biden may end up as Sec. of State, anyway.

Neither Hillary nor Obama have said anything to oppose the PR rush to war on Iran.
