Are Americans that stupid or am I just worrying for nothing?
Recent events have me extremely worried. Let me review, OK?

First, ALL of the Air Force is standing down tomorrow, Sept. 14. And this is being done after receiving 2 tapes from OBL...the last of which discusses attacking the US.

Second, the Russian government is dismissed by Putin. The now ex-prime minister leaves by saying that the "resignation of the government was necessary because of 'APPROACHING SIGNIFICANT POLITICAL EVENTS.'"

Third, Abe of Japan quits and is possibly in the hospital for stress/exhaustion.

Fourth, the Money Boys over at Commodity Trading in NY are raising margin requirements by 25%. Is this because Gold may go on a big run due to the major collapse of the Dollar?

And last, GWB is addressing our once great nation tonight...to set the stage with more and more propaganda.

It all seems so surreal. I have a sick feeling in my stomach.

What are you feeling about recent events?

P.S. And even Rove didn't want any part of it....

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE - Planes at Langley Air Force Base will be grounded
Sept. 14 in response to an incident last week when a B-52 bomber was
mistakenly armed with six nuclear warheads and flown for three hours
across several states.

The stand-down was ordered by Air Combat Command and includes all jet
fighters and bombers in the Air Force.
The command, headquartered at
Langley, oversees all of the service's fighters and bombers.

14. Well, that looks like just ACC, which I think has all the bombers and fighters--
it's command-wide, but that's certainly not ALL of the AF. STRATCOM and AMC, for example, would not be standing down.

18. Yup--fighters and bombers are ACC, cargo/airlift is Air Mobility command, ground-based nukes
are STRATCOM (that's a joint command with the Navy)--these are the commands my husband has worked in, and then there's also ones I'm not familiar with such as Space Command, NORAD, Training and Eduaction Command, Materiel Command--Air Force is much more than just fighters and bombers. I doubt there would be a security risk because of the ACC stand-down.

35. Report: Lab Not Tracking All Plutonium
By JENNIFER TALHELM
Associated Press
September 13, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A stockpile of plutonium and other nuclear weapons materials stored at Los Alamos National Laboratory hasn't been fully accounted for in 13 years or more, a government audit has found.

The northern New Mexico lab's workers have done regular, partial inventories of the material, which the government considers to be at high risk of theft, the audit by the Energy Department's inspector general, Gregory Friedman, found.

Yet an inventory of all the material hasn't been done in ''perhaps 13 years or more,'' Friedman wrote. It wasn't even done when the lab's management contract changed last year, investigators noted in the report made public Wednesday.

6. Awww Man.... I hadn't even tied Japan and Russia into this.
I did connect all the rest of the dots. Now I'm even more uneasy.

As always, I've gone over with the kids what to do in the case of an emergency. Mainly because where hubby and I work is close to their schools and they evac'd 2 buildings under bomb threat last week. The kids walk over to our work after school, and I wanted them to know where we would meet them if WE had to evac OR what to do in the event if another 9/11 type situation occurred. Last time our building locked down. Also gave my daughter a cell phone so she has some way to communicate if they have any situation at her school.

I have a new appreciation for the feelings/worry that my mother experienced during the Cuban missle crisis when I was in school.

Concerning the Troop deployment to washington

Families may get one or two opportunities to see loved ones during this year-long deployment, but it’s not encouraged. Though the solders are staying in the states, they are on serious business.

Can't have family remind them what conscience is or what part of the populace they belong to (hint: the future enemy)

ACC orders commandwide standdown Friday

By Bruce Rolfsen - Staff writer
Posted : Monday Sep 10, 2007 17:38:42 EDT

On Sept. 14, flight lines will be very quiet at Air Combat Command bases.

The entire command — about 100,000 active-duty airmen — is standing down training flights and many other operations as part of a command-wide safety day.

Command boss Gen. Ronald Keys ordered the Sept. 14 safety standdown in the wake of the Aug. 30 nuclear incident at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., in which six cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads were loaded onto a B-52H and then flown to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., without anyone on the ground or bomber realizing the nuclear weapons were on the plane. It was not until the B-52H was parked at Barksdale that ground crews discovered the cruise missiles were carrying real warheads.

Command spokesman Maj. Tom Crosson said wing commanders would determine how their units review operations and safety procedures and checklists.

Just how serious Keys takes the lapse of regulations at Minot is reflected in the fact that the safety stand-down is the first commandwide safety day in recent memory. In the past, the command has singled out specific types of aircraft for safety days and in 1997 the Department of Defense held a departmentwide safety review day.

Financial News: Mystery Trader Bets Market Will Crash By A Third

By Renee Schultes
August 16, 2007 9:27 AM

An anonymous investor has placed a bet on an index of Europe's top 50 stocks falling by a third by the end of September, as world equity markets plunged for a third day and volatility hit a three-year high.

The mystery investor has bought put option contracts on the DJ Eurostoxx 50 index that will result in a profit if it plunges to 2,800 or below by the end of September. Based on the 2,800 strike price, the position covers a notional EUR6.9 billion, and potentially even more using a market price of about 4,100 when the trades were done on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The identity of the investor is unknown but market sources speculated it was either a large hedge fund hedging itself against deepening losses, or a long-only fund manager pressing the panic button to protect its gains.

The investor has bought a total of 245,000 put options on the index. The September put option with a 2,800 strike was the most popular DJ Eurostoxx 50 contract yesterday, according to data from Bloomberg.

Volatility in European equity markets has risen sharply this week as investors cut back on the amount of risk they are taking. The VSTOXX index, which measures the volatility of the DJ Eurostoxx 50 index, hit 34 this morning, which is more than double its three-year average.

Similarly the volatility of the U.S. stock market was trading at almost three times its three-year average, hitting 30 yesterday.

Local Troops Deploy To Nation's Capital (1st Battalion 265 Air Defense Artillery, Daytona Beach, FL)

POSTED: 12:20 pm EDT August 22, 2007

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Members of the 1st Battalion 265 Air Defense Artillery have mobilized and are on a plane headed first to Ft. Bliss, then for federal active duty in the capital region.

The troops will be deployed for a year.

"It's going to be all right It's OK if he helps people and everything, and it's his job. He’s got to do it. He just got to do it," Jessica Ward said, whose father is being deployed.

Jessica speaks for many when she talks about her father's deployment.

Michael Ward and company are leaving for a year, and that weighs heavy on families.

The 265th is part of Operation Noble Eagle.

They are ordered by the president to the nation's capital, where they will operate high-tech weapons systems against any potential air threat.

.....

Families may get one or two opportunities to see loved ones during this year-long deployment, but it’s not encouraged. Though the solders are staying in the states, they are on serious business.

some food and went to a fabulous movie. Now, I am going to write those 23 Dems on the Judiciary Committee + Pelosi AGAIN and try to convince them that the only way this war will end is if we IMPEACH them.

I guess the cards I have sent to these Judiciary Committee members may have had little effect...but it seems to be good therapy for me. This round of cards has a doctor's medical bag on the front....I'm going to ask them if the reason they're not IMPEACHING is due to ILLNESS! Possibly their balls/ova have been surgically removed!

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis....I was only a child, but I remember it vividly. I insisted that the TV be on AT ALL TIMES. And when I went to bed I took my transistor radio with me...I wanted to know when the bombs were coming. Why? I guess I wanted to bend over and kiss my ass goodbye...lol.

Today...I never turn on the TV...unless to watch Olbermann and Amy Goodman....or maybe a rerun of 'The Designing Women.'

When we get thru tomorrow, I am going to do a little dance for Goddess and Mother Nature.

I have this major problem...I don't believe in coincidences...and THAT causes me lots of trouble...too many things happening...and too much distrust of the current powers that be...too much time, effort and deliberation has been spent putting all their ducks in a nice neat row...for all they have done to have been for no reason...it has been my experience that no one goes to that much trouble...just to walk off and leave it half done..keeping fingers crossed in any case, while keeping tin foil, duct tape and plastic sheeting handy...wb

57. They are absolutely stupid.
Compared to other countries, absolutely. Americans are more worried about being able to go shopping than what's going on in the world.
