Meetup.com groups and Pres. Candidate support.
I conducted a very un-scientific survey to gauge support of the top democratic presidential candidates.

My hypothesis is that support for a candidate might be better measured by the number of people willing to volunteer for that candidate than by those who choose him or her when asked by a pollster. With that in mind, I went to Meetup.com and added the number of people who had joined the various candidates meetup groups, and those who were looking to join a meetup group in their area. My thinking is that volunteer support is a better gauge then poll numbers because of their commitment to their candidate.

Candidate - Group Members - Interested in joining group
Obama ----- 5856 ------------- 1624
Edwards ---- 4139 ------------- 2226
Kucinich ---- 4064 ------------- 2491
Clinton ----- 2036 ------------- 1155

The number of active supporters does not in any way resemble support in the polls. We won't know until the actual primaries take place, but I wonder if committed support will be closer to actual voting then poll numbers.

So get out there and support your candidate!
