Maher Asks Clinton: Why Should Americans Vote For Someone Who Can Be Fooled By George Bush? |
|
Bill Maher asks Senator Hillary Clinton, "Why should Americans vote for someone who can be fooled by President Bush?" Senator Clinton responds, "It's a little more complicated than that." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/09/13/maher-asks-clinton-why-_n_64242.html:)

I very much doubt it.

I may not care for her, but one thing is sure. You do not get to where she is by being fooled. She voted for what was best for her, not the country. She had two choices, she went with the one that she thought was politically correct for her, knowing that one day she would run for president.

|
it buys her time while she can think up a response and also serves as an emotional attempt at deflecting real criticism by making light of a serious uncomfortable question.

as if to look confident, like it was an unfair question that's no biggie for her, then goes on to "explain away" her answer. It bugs me, especially laughing at THAT question.

36. Aww. Name something about Hillary that does not bug you. |
|
Have you asked Chuck Schumer, the other New York senator, the SENIOR New York senator, why he also voted for IWR?
It was a bad, disingenuous vote. Almost as disingenuous as pretending Hillary is the only one who made that mistake.
BTW, would it have looked like a mistake if we did NOT do it? Because I've always thought that's what our lawmakers were mistakenly worried about. You can't prove something is a mistake until you make it. And the dishonest Republicans would have happily bludgeoned us to death over it.
Could Hillary's hoped-for candidacy have even launched if she'd been outspoken about that? Was she silent? Was she?

She was ALSO fooled by her husband and everyone else she got advice from. :eyes: To tell you the truth, I think the only reason she voted for the IWR was because she knew she was running for president in '08 and she was fooled into thinking it would be a POSITIVE thing to have voted for it. More triangulation on her part.

Great question by Bill. I've been asking myself this question for years. Hillary was either fooled, or she made a calculated decision that ended up haunting her.

31. Did you all watch the other Maher questions? |
|
I watched the answers of Obama, Clinton, Edwards and Kucinich, I noticed that Kucinich was the only one of those four to answer his question from Maher, directly? The other three answered around their question but not the question asked. This is one of my biggest reasons for supporting Kucinich, for some reason hes the candidate that seems to be very direct in his answers, no matter what forum they are all in? I cant respect and waste my vote on a candidate the refuses to stand up, be presidential and answer questions. How else do we know what they stand for if they cant stand up for what the think or is it they don't want you to know what they think? I hope everyone thinks really hard before making that primary vote because our country is in need of a leader that will stand up for us, not play games with us and make us think they are on our side.
Does it strike anyone else that in the debates it seems to be this way with most the candidates, they answer around questions, not the actual questions asked? Why is that and should they be trusted with our constitutional rights in their hands?

|
There is nothing funny about it, plain and simple. Her laughing (or "cackling" as some people call it), really bothered me. It was so inappropriate to the question asked. I'm sure it was a complicated decision for her to make, with political considerations being first and foremost, but damn - there is NOTHING funny about the war. I certainly hope she will hire better advisors if she wins the nomination. I hope even more that she doesn't win the nomination.
Kind of reminded me of * looking for WMD under his desk.

first thing when elected President. She wouldn't end the occupation, she would just start bringing down troop levels more quickly than a Republican. I suspect she'd leave a number in Iraq for some time...probably years.
