Isn't it nice that the president is listening to Petreaus? |
|
The General has such powers of suggestion. The only person beside cheney that bush ever listened to. He is all giggly about it too. So are the rest of the repuks. I want to throw up. God Damn it someone muzzle that moron and the general too. The ambassador didn't look so hot either.

1. But according to Jon Stewart (who was being serious when he said it) |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 03:36 PM by truedelphi
the reality is that Petraeus is listening to Bush.
Stewart had film clips of the following: First, Bush says, some weeks back, The surge is working. Then Petraeus says, currently, the Surge is working.
Then Bush says, some weeks back, that those who think we are losing don't realize the progress that we are making Then Petraeus says on Monday Sept 10th that those who think we might not be winning don't realize the progress being made in the region.
Then Bush says that if we were to pull out, the nation of Iraq would face a catastrophe. Then Petraeus says, on Sept 10th, If we were to leave now, the Iraqi people would be facing a calamity. ####

2. It's actually very confusing. Generals are supposed carry out orders |
|
from the Commander & Chief, not the other way around. Furthermore, the military isn't supposed to be dictating foreign policy.

3. Petraeus is a mouthpiece selected by Bush. |
|
If a general doesn't spout the stupid, false Bush line.. s/he gets fired or moved.

4. Bush's strategy became "the Petraeus Plan" |
|
Which, surprisingly enough, Bush likes it as though it were something he himself came up with.

5. I may be the only one here that ... |

... thinks Gen. Petreaus is a genuine "good guy". And, as such, doesn't deserve the hate he is receiving. For all we know he may disagree with the Repubs on everything. Yet, as a military man, he has a job to do. And this job could cost him his life.
I tend to put more faith in what Petreaus says than in whatever comes out of any politician's mouth. A politician will say *anything* to get elected. Not so a General.
But that's just my opinion. Let the rants fly ...
