he's pissing me off. The President wins the battle of September. What? Is he serious?

Well if he won this battle - he's going to lose the war.

He said that Bush probably managed to accomplish just what he sought to accomplish with this speech - to shore up his base and to throw something to wavering Republican moderates.

I believe he's done that. It doesn't mean that he'll ultimately prevail, but he he bought himself some time, which is exactly what he intended to do by kicking the ball down the road to September.

I think Buchanan called this one right.
