It's time to take it to the streets, |
|
I belong to a group of Veterans that is not known a lot in active circles, we are called VIETNAM VETERANS for Another Way, We have for a long time had our little get togethers and meetings and discussed and ranted and raved at the war and other veteran issues, last night we met in our local groups and we have come to the conclusion that it is time for us to take it to the streets, for too long we have waited and hoped that things would work out with calling and writing our senators and congress critters but it has not gotten us or the American people anywhere except where we are today. We realized that for too long we have been silent, and that there were people who had put their lives and in some cases fortunes on the line to bring us and thousands of other GIs home from Vietnam, now we feel it is our turn to pay those people back with the same effort, we are not like most of protesters, we aren't Code Pink or and other group, we know that the only real way is through making the Administration, the Congress and Senate pay attention through the financial sector, and through the witholding of support and funding at the local and State level, we don't know that it will work, but it is our way of going about it, in trying to stop this Insanity and War. We ask that you wish us luck, we are not a large organization we have only about 2,500 members scatered over the lower 48. but we feel it is time to pay back what so many did for us in protesting the Vietnam War. Now it is time to stop this madness and the only thing that these people really understand is Money, and the lack of it we hope will get their attention.

Some writer once said, "You get the government you demand."
I've been thinking about what kind of "revolution" would work in this case ~ you may be on to something with MONEY!

2. First, thank you for doing what you have already done. |

Hitting them in the wallet will certainly make them pay more attention, but they get the overwhelming majority of their cash through their masters, not the citizenry.
I'm afraid that there is little hope of meaningful change until things get so bad for so many people that the citizens are forced to resort to extreme measures.
If you look at the origins of the progressive movement in the 19th century, it was brought about by the same conditions that we are going back to, but are still a long way from. The American sheeple are still too busy chewing their cuds and ignoring what is going on around them to take back their power.

the same circumstances are becoming more and more prominate in our society. Making people aware of the rent strikes in the East Coast and how and when unions were created. Many people died to have unions in the early part of the 1900s. What was it Madison said "you can have a nation for and by the people if you control corporations. Well, now corps have so much money they tell our government what to do. How many Americans are unaware of their early history. and those in power want it that way. They've found another American soldier that was to come home and he was going to work against the war with a bullet in the middle of his forehead JUST LIKE TILLMAN! What is it going to take for the common American to get a spine? Admitidly it might mean death, like it apparently has for some of those who have stood up to this administration.
