Four Iowa lawmakers to back Obama |
|
DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) — Four Iowa legislators announced Friday that they are throwing their support behind Sen. Barack Obama, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination. State Sen. Rich Olive, state Sen. Frank Wood, state Rep. Helen Miller and state Rep. Janet Peterson all said they will back the Illinois Democrat.
" used his good judgment to speak out against the war in Iraq before it was popular to do so," Miller said in a statement released by the campaign.
The addition of these four legislators brings Obama's Iowa state lawmaker endorsement tally to 10. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, is still in the lead, however, with 16. Obama now moves ahead of Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, who yesterday received his eighth endorsement from Iowa House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
The Obama campaign also noted that two statewide office holders, Attorney General Tom Miller and Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald, are backing his presidential bid.

3. Any endorsement is good, I guess. |
|
But those folks aren't exactly heavy hitters, even in the Iowa Democratic party.
