A few notes about Clark's Hillary endorsement from a proud Wes Winger who supports Obama
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 01:18 PM by wndycty
In one thread Clarksters were asked how we feel. Say what?

Well some are happy, some are disappointed. Some wanted him to run, some wanted him to back their respective candidate. But regardless of what we wanted I would hope we still support Wes and not turn on him. The reason we supported him in '04 had everything to do with who is and his endorsement does not change that.

Any Democratic candidate and his or her supporters would have enthusiastically welcomed his endorsement so I find it very silly for people to take shots at him today.

As it relates to this endorsement disqualifying from being the running mate of anyone but Hillary. . . BULLSHIT

Whoever wins the nod will pick the running mate that gives him or her the best chance and for many that person is General Clark. Let's not forget former opponents (Kerry and Edwards) are often running mates.

This endorsement is a blow to many of us who support candidates other than Hillary, but its not the end of the world and more importantly it should not change anyone's support of General Wesley K. Clark!

This pic is still one of my prized possessions. It is me with the General and was taken in October of '03 by Dogman in Chicago:

1. The endorsement doesn't change who Wes is.
As I said in another thread, his contribution to the '06 election was huge, and I don't expect anything different in '08. He raised money and stumped for countless Dems.

Pretty good for somebody that many claimed was a Republican operative, hmm? :)

7. You are correct. It does not change
Gen. Clark. I admire him very much. And it is his choice who he wants to endorse. We are very lucky in all the Democratic candidates. They are all very good and address all of us. They at least do not preach to us. They just state what they feel. The Republican slate is truly horrible. They are all ego-driven and think they know it all. I am ashamed they call themselves Americans. Whoever the Democratic nominee is I will support him or her.

3. I enjoy these threads because I agree with every one of them
plus, it reconfirms for me (a loyal fan of the General myself) that many Clarkies are a cut above the usual partisans.

Well said, wndycty.

4. I must say I'm disappointed that he endorsed Hillary...
and that he's not running. He IS still all the things he was BEFORE endorsing her, but it freed me up to change my Clark avatar to Obama, and I STILL hope Obama will win and Clark will be his VP!

13. Just wondering if Clark had an "understanding" with HC.
This whole thing makes a lot of sense to me. Hillary knows that both she and the Dem Party have a white male deficit and they know that Wes has been a commentator on Fox and would be the best candidate to appeal to white males in general and vets, both black, Hispanic and white in particular. He is from the South, as well.

Yep, lifelong military and won a war without losing a single American life. No other chickenhawk repub can measure up to that.

Oh, yes. He doesn't have the one thing that John Kerry had: being an antiwar activist, which cancelled out Kerry's service in lots of peoples' minds (not that I disagreed with JK on the war).

And, hurray, NO VOTING RECORD.

HC is a very smart cookie.

5. I'm surprised that he would endorse anybody this early, oh well.
I guess he's learning how to play politics, DC style.

I definitely need a little help on this one. But I am still devoted and loyal to General Clark.

12. Nice post,
I just found out about this when I came online a few minutes ago. It doesn't affect how I feel about Wes Clark, and it won't automatically propel into Clinton's camp. My head's still spinning to tell you the truth.
