Poll question: For "Clarkies" only - time to 'fess up
We know how one Clarkie feels about today's endorsement.

What about the rest of you?

Personally, I feel better about Clinton knowing she has Wes on her side.
I have lots of respect for Wes.

I would really like to keep this poll for Clark supporters, if possible.
Thanks:hi:

1. Clark endorsed Clinton? I hadn't heard.
Don't know how I feel about that. I'm not wild about her on the war, or a bunch of other things. I like her, certainly, and she's been a good senator, but I prefer somebody who was against the war from the start. Honestly, given how Clark's been talking, I'm shocked he picked her.

3. It was a good thing for Hillary Clinton for sure.......
But Bad for Rudi.

As for me, I'm OK with it.....cause it was his decision to make.

I will make my own decision as to whom I will support when I am ready.

4. Who did you expect him to endorse, Edwards?
Of course not.

Obama?

Clark's know the Clintons for 25 years, and served under Bill Clinton. Really, how can one be surprised by this. And in any case, Clark's a realistic guy. He understands Clinton all but has it locked up, and it's time move forward.

And of course it's a great thing, Clark will now be an even more tremendous asset the Party! He'll either help put Clinton over the top as VP, or be SOS, in my opinion. In any case, his voice will be heard!

5. I wasn't aware that they were such good friends.
I hope Clark will be involved in the next administration, no matter who wins.

in any time prior.

Wes and Bill met while Bill was in High School. I think they were one or two years apart.....and didn't attend the same high school.

And certainly, they had a friendship while Clark served under Bill Clinton.....cause Clark made Clinton look real good during Kosovo, which didn't stop Clark from being "retired early" behind Clinton's back--

But the Wes and Hillary Friendship is relatively new.

She didn't endorse him during his bid, so that's telling.

that Clintons put Clark in the race to take out Dean (whatever, old stupid argument). His fucking head must be imploding right now!!

If he thought the other thing was a "conspiracy"

It would be great to see Clark as her VP, just to see him HAVE to back that ticket. Laughing my ass off!

enough and have always relied on my own judgement. But what ever floats your boat...

10. I wish he'd waited
All the MSN pronouncements and all the different endorsements that make some people think HRC's nomination is inevitable are really troubling. We are being force fed one candidate, and there is the growing feeling that primaries and votes don't matter. Oh yeah, that's right judging by 2000 and 2004, they don't.

Dean was inevitable before he primaries; then it was Kerry. THEN WE LOST!

Aside from here on DU, I know of literally no one where I live who supports HRC. In fact, most people loathe her.

I loved Clark and was involved in the draft Clark movement back in 2004, but his endorsement has no influence on me and frankly, I'm disappointed he came out so early.

11. I trust Wes. I think his endorsement was an informed one regarding her foreign policy chops...
However I don't think it in any way addresses whether she can carry enough states to win the presidency.

I personally look at Bill Richardson and can see he looks like someone who would be perceived as a "like to have a beer with" candidate

While the following may seem petty, we are a nation of pety underinformed voters

Edwards too pretty plus "frivolous lawsuit", and the haircut gaffe. If you are running for president go to Super Cuts until the campaign is over

Biden, talks ways too much and for too long

12. It was horrendous.
I truly did not think he'd support her -- despite the possibility.

I was disappointed, disheartened, and, let's be honest, pretty pissed that he endorsed her.

I really believed he would endorse a far more progressive/liberal candidate, or wait until the GE.

16. I'm very disappointed.
Firstly because I wanted him to run and secondly because he endorsed the candidate I like the least. I'm still a huge Clark fan but I will not be following his lead on this.

17. I am disappointed. I was hoping he'd refrain from endorsing anyone.
However, if she gets the Democratic nomination, he's got to be a lock for VP. And Clinton/Clark is a ticket that I think could get us the White House.

Of course, so could Gore/Clark.

But I'm still sticking with Obama for now. Though I am a huge Clark supporter, his endorsement doesn't change my preferred primary candidate.

19. I used to run www.michiganforclark.com and worked to "draft" him...
I can't say I'm pleased with his endorsement though I am finally resigned to the fact that Sen. Clinton will likely be the next President. I don't like her too much but at least it she will be better than the Republicans I see running.

20. Why not break it down differently
Break it down this way:

There were two waves of "Clarkies."

The first wave came shortly after Clark was drafted for President and some Democrats jumped on board. At that time "progressives" were suspicious. You called him a "stalking horse for the Clintons." You called him a Republican and a neocon and DLC and could not seem to fathom why other Democrats would support someone in the military.

The second wave of came after Clark began fleshing out some of his positions on issues. A few of the more well known bloggers warmed to him and soon other "progressives" did, too.

I was in the first wave. We knew Clark's association with the Clinton's. He was called "Clinton's General." Bill Clinton remarked in those days, "The Democratic party has two rising stars, Hillary and Wes Clark."

I imagine a good portion of the first wave approve of the endorsement.

21. From those choices I might pick number three but that tone is all wrong for how I feel
My thinking about this probably is best expressed by the Blog I left at Clark Community Network today. I based it on parts of several posts I made here at DU yesterday and today, and expanded on them. I posted the now complete version here at the DU Clark Supporters Forum:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=235x9819

To give a bottom line answer, if you assume as I do that none of the Democrats current candidates any longer had any realistic chance of stopping Hillary Clinton from winning the nomination, then I have a real appreciation for why Clark did this now to help Democrats win the White House in 2008. It makes sense to me and I can support it (working on that key assumption) without making me feel like I have to support Hillary Clinton personally at this stage. And if that seems like a contradiction to you, well then all I can ask is that you read the post I link to above, I can't explain further without re-writing it here.
