If only Hitler got into art school. If only someone offered Castro a baseball contract. If only African-Americans voted for George W. Bush.

Robert Draper, author of the new, authorized Bush bio visited "Real Time with Bill Maher," and the host paraphrased a rather telling anecdote from the book:

After he won the Texas governorship, and he said to an aide, the blacks didn't come out for me like the Hispanics did, so they're not going to see much help from me.

In part, that may explain why someone who probably isn't a racist does such a good impression of one.

As to why Bush characterizes himself as "lonely," Maher has a worthy theory: "Could it just be that he's a surly douchebag?"
