Poll question: Those Of You Holding Out For Gore...
If he doesn't run, who will you support in the primary?

1. My spouse and I broker primaries when our top 2 are the same.
I'll vote for Dennis K and he'll vote for Edwards, unless something drastic happens before Feb. 5th :hi:

2. What are his closest friends and advisors telling Al Gore these days?
My guess is they are asking him if there is a compelling reason why he should not enter the race.

I can make a list of some things that constitute a response in the negative, but I think the affirmative is the stronger argument.

Strictly one person's notion here, but all summerlong I've considered a Gore entry a 51-49 proposition in favor until noon each day, and 51-49 against for the afternoon.

As things stand now I believe Gore considers the nomination winnable and regards the Oval Office as the greater arena for his list of future goals regarding the environment.

Picture, for example, a President Al Gore getting off the airplane in Kyoto and signing the treaty in person.

I think he's in.

6. I like your thinking.
I'm thinking he's in too.

He is in a very similar position to that of Ike when he was drafted. Ike made a deal with Taft that he wouldn't run if Taft would commit to the principle of collective security for the defense of Europe. Taft declined, so Ike ran.

7. Hi, JTFrog. Good to see you on DU tonight. Yep, I hear you on Ike and Taft
and the similar tensions and times.

Al Gore can be full of surprises, I realize. But I think in roughly a month he may have some real good news about a Peace Prize.

What a stage set that would make for a certain announcement.

10. Good Evening.
:hi:

While I don't think he'd use that stage, I do think that it would be a very fitting and most deserved honor. I'm hoping for an announcement soon after whether he wins or not! (I'd settle for before too, lol)

3. OT: Dennis missed a great opportunity today....
I know he has a lot of supporters on DU, so why doesn't he have at least ONE field office in Iowa?

I see you're a Kucinich supporter, and Kuch is ahead in your poll  How did this become about Gore ?

Time and energy for the Kuch should be put into the early primary states, not silly polls on the DU :hi:

4. Just curious, I guess.
not everything I post is to advance my candidate. And yes, I'm posting silly polls on a Sunday evening when I should probably be phone-banking or picking up dog poop in the backyard, or something constructive, I suppose.

5. Doesn't matter. I live in Florida. We HAVE no vote.
The Republican state legislature made sure that Democrats will have no vote in the primary. Some of our more paranoid people are saying that they were working with the DLC to insure we wouldn't be able to vote in the primaries.

But that's okay. In the general election the Republicans will be taking the votes away from all of you, and we'll end up with President Frederick of Hollywood Thompson.

11. I'm all for local support of good people, rucky, but I just don't know about Mickey.
Why hasn't he reached puberty yet?

Is he huffing on weekends, or what?

I'm just not getting that little squeaky high voice.

Now Goofy. I could get behind a Goofy candidacy, no problem.

12. Mickey may have done some huffing back in the days...
but he's never exhaled.

And Goofy?! Have you seen his driving record?

13. Now don't you go pickin' on Goofy's driving. I happen to think he does
just fine for a one-dimensional entity.
