2. Way to go Hillary!! And BTW, I really loved her comments from the Iowa Steak Fry today
Especially when she talked about how if she wins the election, the day afterward, she would send envoys all over the world with the message "The era of cowboy diplomacy is over....America is back!"

I'm so proud of Sen. Clinton and how she has conducted herself thus far in this race.

These endorsements are well deserved.

4. Hillary has accumulated an astounding list of endorsements..
With so many endorsements, the meme, "no one I know is voting for Hillary!" seems to say the least, a bit disingenuous..

6. yeah, it was great back in July
when Obama first started saying it. And the "invisible"?? Christ she lifted that right out of the title of the Edwards book that he wrote back in 2005. "The Working Poor: Invisible In America."

You're proud because you refuse to face the truth about her.

8. Hillary is NOW the one to beat...

Sat Sep 15, 7:56 PM ET

These things happen quietly, subtly, without pronouncements, sometimes without anyone ever noticing they are occurring. But often -- not always, mind you -- one candidate surges to such an advantageous position in the fight for a presidential nomination that the contender suddenly becomes the front-runner. It just happened.

It's not quite clear what celestial or temporal event prompted it. No one took a straw vote (the Republicans did that, and they still have no front-runner), and no one caucused. It's not a mainstream media conspiracy, either. It's just a discernible adjustment in the political climate. But find me someone who thinks, deep in his or her heart, that Hillary Rodham Clinton isn't in the strongest position right now in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

This isn't a matter of survey data, or a question of money raised, or crowds roused, or debate questions parried, or bumper stickers distributed, or editorials drafted or e-mails forwarded. It's more a question of sitting here in September and thinking of the role of Mr. October or, to put it more plainly, to see who is playing the role of Reggie Jackson, who once was quoted in Sport magazine as saying he was the straw that stirred the drink of the New York Yankees.

....

In some ways this presidential campaign, so different from its predecessors in so many ways, is nevertheless so much the same as some of the ones that preceded it. In 1984, for example, former Vice President Walter F. Mondale was the front-runner, followed by Sen. John H. Glenn Jr. and Sen. Gary W. Hart. Senators Glenn and Hart sought to diminish their rival by declaring him the tool of the special interests and unions that bankrolled him. Hart, who had more of an insurgent's profile than Glenn, sought to stay close to Mondale in the polls so as to be well-positioned if he stumbled.

Those are the relative positions Sen. Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama have fallen into in recent weeks. We don't have the advantage of knowing who won Iowa (Mondale did in 1984) or New Hampshire (Hart), but we do know that Clinton possesses some classic front-runner attributes.

14. is there no local chapter of
"Big shots for Hillary"? I would not be eligible to join anyway.

This seems to be one of her top campaign themes - 'face the inevitable - vote for Hillary'

What a bummer to see people on this list that I once liked and respected, like Tammy Baldwin. And Mark Dayton. Does he really need a job? He was once the most progressive person in the Senate and he advertised himself as 'not for sale'. Now he looks like part of the machine.

15. Excellent & let's add U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Donna M. Christensen
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=3318

9/16/2007
U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Donna M. Christensen Endorses Clinton

We need change, and Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to deliver it," Congresswoman Christensen said. "Hillary is ready to lead this country on her first day in the White House and her health care platform - and its emphasis on ensuring health equity - is exactly the direction we need to be heading."

Congresswoman Christensen is serving her sixth term, and is the only African-American physician serving in Congress and the first female physician ever elected to Congress. She serves on the Committee on Natural Resources and the Homeland Security Committees and is Chair of the Subcommittee on Insular Affairs. Congresswoman Christensen is also Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust.

Prior to being elected to Congress, Congresswoman Christensen served as the Medical Director of the St. Croix Hospital and as the Territorial Acting Commissioner of Health.

And even a cursory glance at the money race here, would make it clear. Obama's raced in the neighborhood of $300,000. Hillary's raised about a tenth of that.

25. Bill Sorrell, Attorney General of the State of Vermont,
Peter Clavelle, former mayor of Burlington, and candidate for gov two years ago. Jeb Spaulding, Treasurer of the State of Vermont.

These are far more prominent pols than those you listed. Also as this snippet makes clear, Leahy, Sanders and Welch are pretty close to endorsements. And I certainly don't think you'll see them endorsing Hillary.

"In addition to the outpouring of funds from Vermont voters, the state’s federal lawmakers also spoke in support of Obama, with senior Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) stopping just short of an official endorsement. Speaking in the Stetsons’ driveway, Leahy maintained that he and his congressional colleagues don’t take “formal positions” on presidential candidates at such an early stage in the race, but conceded, “Half of my campaign staff is working for him.”

Vermont’s two other congressmen also expressed glowing admiration for Obama. Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT), for instance, said the Illinois senator “represents hope and change.” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) called him “a wonderful guy and a great speaker.”
http://www.sevendaysvt.com/nc/columns/local-matters-news/2007/obamas-vermont-appearance-raises-hopes-and-more-than-250000.html

And I know that several state legislators have also endorsed him. I say it on a local blog. I'll try and find the list.

The reality is; there just isn't much enthusiasm for Hillary here. And the endorsements you found, are no where near as important as the ones I listed. Most Vermonters know who Sorell, Clavelle and Spaulding are, they don't know who Hinda Miller is. And they certainly know who Leahy, Sanders and Welch are.

Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 09:16 AM by Tellurian
This one is not state by state but equally impressive and unparalled by any other candidate in the race..

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=3522755#3523538

It would be good to compare, if you can post Obama's endorsements..

29. LOL. Way to try and divert
YOU asked ME about Vermont. I gave you the info. This has nothing to do with other states, I'm just telling you that Hillary does NOT have much support here. Not that people here won't vote for her if she's the nominee, we will, but the important endorsements in my little and inconsequential state will NOT go to HRC.

We don't like the War. We never did. And we don't appreciate her voting for the IWR, when even Jim Jeffords, former republican, had enough insight to know bushco was lying his ass off.

Mayor of Philadelphia John F. Street

Shitbag of all shitbags. Waited on line for an iPhone on city time then ran around angrily trying to justify it. Thanks for wasting that MASSIVE chunk of money I spent on philadelphia's VERY oversized land title transfer tax. Asshole.

National Association of Letter Carriers (300,000)

Corrupt. I won't go into it.

OTHERS
General Wesely Clark

Katharine McPhee

Rosie O'Donnell
Brett Ratner
Caroline Rhea (Comedian)
Anne Rice
Steven Spielberg

And we listen to these people why? I can pick at least 7 people on this list who are absolutely useless. It's like saying Ernie and Bert support HRC.

God, I wish one of the other dems was the frontrunner.

If I was against all unions I would have referred to all of the ones on that list. Logic. Use it.

I'm not going to sit here and recount my personal experience to you, but trust me, the letter carriers union might as well be called the letter carriers mafia. Ask a postal worker.

I don't support Hillary. Get over it.

34. Grilling? I asked a simple question regarding differences. Nothing personal.
Or if you thought others were corrupt as well. I did not ask for personal experiences. Nor would I want you to ask me anything personal.

Regardless of which candidate you support or do not support, don't expect that here one can post anything they like and not expect to be questioned about it. That's simply ridiculous.

Get with it.

38. The moment you insinuated that I get my views from Rush

32. There is no frontrunner until people start voting.
Dean proved how useless the status of media-declared front-runner is.

35. True regarding Dean - - but not true historically.
Bush was the media-declared front-runner very early on, in 1999.

36. Bill wasn't the media declared front runner before New Hampshire.
And Carter wasn't before Iowa.
