Keith Olbermann recovering from emergency appendectomy


Keith Olbermann is recovering from emergency surgery to remove his appendix. The surgery occured late Friday.

You can send get well wishes to countdown@msnbc.com. Keith is scheduled to return to Countdown on Wednesday.

2. I can not imagine that he will be back by this Wednesday.
I think it will likely be the following Wednesday - unless he decides to do the show from a hospital bed. That would be kind of cool.

3. They must have caught it in time. If they were able to perform
the surgery laparoscopically, his recovery would be quite rapid. It would be a minimally invasive surgery with much less pain and a quick return to routine activities. I bet he's off his pain meds by now. Since his job doesn't require him to exert alot physically, it doesn't surprise me that he'll be on tv by Wednesday.

5. Wow. I wasn't. It ruptured, but I guess it didn't spread
alot of infected matter throughout his gut and body. I am shocked that he won't be on IV antibiotics for a week. I guess they have him loaded up with some oral ones, just in case.
